Melbourne United's Jack White has declined his player option for the 2025-26 NBL season, sources told ESPN, making the star Australian forward a free agent this off-season.

White plans to explore his overseas market, sources said, while keeping himself open to a return to United.

White, 27, is coming off a season with United where he averaged 13.3 points and 8.9 rebounds per game over the regular season and playoffs. The athletic forward helped United to a 19-10 record and a spot in the 2025 NBL Championship Series, where his team fell to the Illawarra Hawks in five games.

United has since confirmed that White declined his player option.

"Melbourne United will always be a special place for me, it's my home away from home in Australia and the NBL," White told Melbourne United Media on Monday.

"Over the next few months I'll be assessing my playing options internationally to determine what is the best next move for my career."

Prior to his return to United for the 2024-25 NBL season, White spent two years within the NBA ecosystem. He was on a two-way deal with the Denver Nuggets, where he won the 2023 NBA Championship, before playing for the South Bay Lakers in the NBA G-League the following year; he'd sign a 10-day contract with the Memphis Grizzlies to end that season.

White was a member of United from 2020-2022, winning an NBL Championship with the team in 2021.
