The NBA announced on Wednesday night that it will be suspending the 2019-20 season without a firm timetable for return. The announcement immediately followed the news of Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert testing positive for the coronavirus.

Soon after it was known of Gobert's positive test, the Jazz's road contest against the Oklahoma City Thunder was postponed shortly before tipoff. The Thunder were cleared to leave, but Jazz players and staff needed to coordinate with Oklahoma and Utah public health organizations before they could exit the arena.

Thursday morning, Gobert's teammate, Donovan Mitchell, became the second Jazz player to test positive for the virus, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Players past and present expressed their concerns and suggestions on social media following the news.

When the news broke of Mitchell's positive test, players continued their support for Utah's two stars. Both Mitchell and Gobert took to Instagram on Thursday to share their thoughts and thank all those who have reached out.

I want to thank everyone for the outpouring of concern and support over the last 24 hours. I have gone through so many emotions since learning of my diagnosis...mostly fear, anxiety, and embarrassment. The first and most important thing is I would like to publicly apologize to the people that I may have endangered. At the time, I had no idea I was even infected. I was careless and make no excuse. I hope my story serves as a warning and causes everyone to take this seriously. I will do whatever I can to support using my experience as way to educate others and prevent the spread of this virus . I am under great care and will fully recover. Thank you again for all your support. I encourage everyone to take all of the steps to stay safe and healthy. Love.

Former NBA players playing professionally in Europe like Sam Dekker are facing different challenges. President Donald Trump announced Thursday that there would be a 30-day ban on travel from Europe to the United States.

With the regular season in limbo due to the coronavirus, players such as Lou Williams, Miles Bridges and Ja Morant commented on Vince Carter possibly playing in his last NBA game on Thursday night.
