Charlotte Hornets and Cody Zeller agree to 4-year, $56 million deal

The Charlotte Hornets have agreed to a four-year extension worth $56 million with Cody Zeller, according to sources and multiple reports.

The deal has no options, sources told ESPN.

The Hornets announced the deal Monday night but did not disclose financial terms.

Zeller, 24, is in the final year of his rookie deal. If the team hadn't signed him to an extension, Zeller would have become a restricted free agent after the season.

The 7-foot Zeller averaged 8.7 points and 6.2 rebounds last season and is averaging 10.7 points and 5.0 rebounds in three games this season. Zeller is shooting 61 percent from the field this season.

The former Indiana star has battled through knee and shoulder injuries in the past year, but seems to be healthy now.
