Jrue Holiday aggravates leg injury

New Orleans Pelicans point guard Jrue Holiday is out indefinitely after aggravating the leg injury that has sidelined him since mid-January.

The Pelicans announced Wednesday that Holiday aggravated the stress reaction in his lower right leg Monday and will be evaluated again in three weeks.

"It's a setback for him and for us,'' Pelicans coach Monty Williams said, adding that Holiday had been on track to return this weekend until he felt some pain during some "light stuff" on the court. "I just feel bad for Jrue."

Holiday, who is averaging 15.2 points and 7.1 assists, has missed New Orleans' last 16 games. The Pelicans had hoped that Holiday would return immediately after the All-Star break.

Williams, who spoke after Wednesday practice, also says he hopes Anthony Davis and Ryan Anderson will return from their injuries for New Orleans' next game on Friday night in Orlando. Both participated in a non-contact practice on Wednesday and are expected to participate in a regular practice on Thursday.

Williams says Davis, who has a sprained right shoulder, and Anderson, who has a sore right elbow, both remain listed as day-to-day for now.

The 24-year-old Holiday suffered a stress fracture in his right leg last season and missed New Orleans' final 48 games. With Holiday out of the lineup, Tyreke Evans has moved from small forward to point guard, while forward Dante Cunningham has joined the starting lineup.

"We played without Jrue for a month, so nothing is going to change," Davis said.

The Pelicans (27-26) are 10th in the Western Conference standings, 1.5 games behind the eighth-place Phoenix Suns (29-25).
