Furkan Aldemir gets 4-year deal

Turkish big man Furkan Aldemir has landed a four-year contract in the $12 million range from the Philadelphia 76ers, according to sources.

Sources said Sunday the Sixers, having secured Aldemir's release from Turkish club Galatasaray and obtained him a visa, will ‎formally complete the signing of the 23-year-old this week -- perhaps as early as Monday.

Aldemir's contract is fully guaranteed for the first two seasons, sources said, and partially guaranteed in 2016-17 and 2017-18.

Earlier this month, Aldemir terminated his three-year contract with Galatasaray -- which is coached by Turkish national team boss Ergin Ataman -- to pursue his NBA dream. The Sixers acquired the draft rights to the 6-foot-9, 230-pounder before the 2013-14 season in a trade with the Houston Rockets that also saw Philadelphia absorb the contract of the since-released Royce White.

‎Aldemir was selected by the Los Angeles Clippers with the 53rd overall pick in the 2012 draft and is regarded as a rebounding specialist.

According to ESPN Radio 97.3 FM in Atlantic City, Philadelphia will waive recent signee Ronald Roberts to make roster room for Aldemir. Roberts didn't get any court time in his two games with the Sixers but ‎has turned some heads with his athleticism.
