Memphis Grizzlies: B

For the Grizzlies, this trade sets the stage for the potential signing of veteran guard Shelvin Mack. ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported last week the team was in talks with Mack -- who, coincidentally, played last season for the Magic -- on a one-year deal.
Signing Mack for the veteran's minimum would have at least temporarily pushed Memphis into the luxury tax, as ESPN's Bobby Marks notes. That, in turn, would have all but forced the Grizzlies to waive Andrew Harrison, whose 2018-19 salary is guaranteed for just $200,000. By swapping Martin for Johnson, who will count about $900,000 less against the tax, Memphis now has the option of keeping both Harrison and Mack.
The Grizzlies' roster is still overloaded, as adding Mack would give them 15 guaranteed contracts plus Harrison. Barring another move, Johnson appears the most likely candidate to be cut for now.
Orlando Magic: B

Johnson, acquired last Friday from the Oklahoma City Thunder, barely lasted the weekend with the Magic. Orlando reportedly planned to waive Johnson, and there's a chance that Martin may stick on the Magic's roster.
A 2015 first-round pick by the Grizzlies, Martin played a career-high 1,661 minutes in his third season, starting 36 games. However, he wasn't particularly effective in that span. Martin needs to find a way to score efficiently at the NBA level, having posted a .511 true shooting percentage in his three years. Martin has stretched out to the 3-point line, but his 35 percent shooting from there isn't quite enough to boost his efficiency yet.
So it's possible that Orlando will simply waive Martin, adding the cash received from Memphis in this deal to the $2 million received from the Thunder along with Johnson, per Marks.
As for Harvey, a 2015 second-round pick by the Magic out of Eastern Washington, his volume scoring hasn't translated from the Big Sky to the G League or NBA summer league opportunities with Orlando. A career in Europe looks more likely than an NBA contract for Harvey.
