Sources: Murray State set to hire Creighton's Ryan Miller

Murray State is expected to hire Creighton assistant Ryan Miller as its next head coach, sources told ESPN on Thursday.

Miller is a longtime Division I assistant coach who has worked under Greg McDermott at Creighton since 2021, helping guide the Bluejays to four straight NCAA tournament appearances. Prior to being hired at Creighton, he spent time on staffs at TCU, UNLV, Auburn, New Mexico, Pepperdine and Memphis, coaching under the likes of Steve Alford and John Calipari.

He is the younger brother of former NBA player Mike Miller.

Miller will replace Steve Prohm, who stepped down last week after three seasons with the Racers. It was Prohm's second stint at Murray State, after winning two regular-season championships and going to one NCAA tournament in four seasons from 2012 to 2015.

In the past three seasons, Prohm's teams finished below .500 twice and won just two games in the conference tournament.

Miller will hope to reignite a program with rich recent tradition, as the Racers went to 16 NCAA tournaments between 1988 and 2022 and consistently produced high-major head coaches in Mark Gottfried, Mick Cronin, Billy Kennedy, Prohm and Matt McMahon.
