UCLA's historic run of nine men's basketball national championships in 10 years (and 10 in 12 years) started during the 1964 NCAA tournament. Led by coach John Wooden, the Bruins knocked off the Duke Blue Devils in the first national title game appearance for both schools.

UCLA senior guard Walt Hazzard was selected the 1964 Final Four Most Outstanding Player, averaging 19.8 points and 5.0 rebounds over four tournament games. His most dominant performance came in a 90-84 win over Kansas State in the national semifinals. Hazzard finished with 19 points, 9 assists and 7 rebounds.

Even after losing Hazzard to the NBA, the Bruins kept the ship steady and became the fifth Division I men's basketball program to win back-to-back national championships, joining Oklahoma A&M (became Oklahoma State in 1957), Kentucky, San Francisco and Cincinnati.

Gail Goodrich scored 42 points to lead UCLA past Michigan in the 1965 title game.

After failing to make the NCAA tournament the following season, Wooden and the Bruins retooled -- adding players such as Lew Alcindor, who later changed name to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Bill Walton to the varsity roster -- and won the next seven national championships. It's a title run that remains unmatched in Division I men's basketball.

Here's a look at the programs that have won back-to-back NCAA Division I men's tournaments:
