Iowa State second-leading scorer Bryce Dejean-Jones was arrested Wednesday night on three charges.
He was suspended for Friday night's game against Iowa, a 90-75 win over Iowa.
Ames police department commander Geoff Huff told ESPN that Dejean-Jones and his roommates had been warned by officers several times in the past to keep the noise down.
Officers responded to a call Wednesday night and charged Dejean-Jones with a nuisance party violation and a noise ordinance violation -- two simple misdemeanors. Dejean-Jones' attorney told ESPN that there were four people in the apartment -- Dejean-Jones, teammate and roommate Abdel Nader, Dejean-Jones' brother, and a friend from Los Angeles.
Dejean-Jones also was charged with gathering where marijuana is used, which is a serious misdemeanor.
"Officers smelled burnt marijuana when they arrived at the apartment," Huff told ESPN. "We had been working with them in the past because there were several noise complaints."
That charge was dropped Thursday.
"The judge determined that there was not enough evidence to determine that the defendant committed the offense," Huff said.
However, Huff added it could be refiled with additional info and that police are working with the county attorney.
"I've tried to gather as many facts on the situation as possible," Iowa State coach Fred Hoiberg said Thursday. "I've talked to numerous people in our department, administration. I've talked to Bryce. ... We feel that the best move at this time for Bryce, for our team, is to suspend him for tomorrow night's game. ... It'll be a one-game suspension."
The talented, well-traveled, 6-foot-6 senior joined Hoiberg's program this past offseason, and is averaging 17.1 points, 6.6 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game this season.
Dejean-Jones began his career at USC, transferred to UNLV and then left the Runnin' Rebels for Iowa State as a graduate transfer student.
