Each weekday, ESPN RISE brings you five vital stats from athletes across the country.
Lawrence Academy (Groton, Mass.) senior forward and Boston College recruit Steve Whitney is one of the nation's top hockey players. Despite standing in at 5 feet 7 inches tall and 160 pounds, Whitney plays a lot bigger than his size. Not surprisingly, a pair of undersized NHL forwards headline his list of top five pro players.
1. Brian Gionta
"He's a smaller player in the NHL, and he also went to BC."
2. Martin St. Louis
"I like his style of play and I kind of model myself after him."
3. Sidney Crosby
"He's unbelievable to watch."
4. Alexander Ovechkin
"He's a flashy and hard-nosed player."
5. Phil Kessel
"I like his shot and his speed."
