A first half Ahmed Jahouh brace was cancelled out by a second half brace from Armando Sadiku as Mohun Bagan remained unbeaten in the ISL. Odisha FC started the stronger side in the Salt Lake stadium, the site of their 5-2 win over this opposition in the AFC Cup last week, and their reward cam when Subasish Bose was adjudged to have handled the ball inside his own box off a Puitea header. Jahouh stepped up and made no mistake with his penalty attempt. Deep in first half stoppage time Jahouh made it 2 with a lovely finish off an unselfish Diego Mauricio pass. The move, though, had started with a tough tackle on Sahal Abdul Samad by Jahouh, one which saw the India NT playmaker hobble off the field.
The second half was a strange affair, with spurts of action interspersing periods of nothingness. In one of those spurts, Sadiku pulled one back when he made a clever run off the back of Narendar Gahlot to flick home a lovely cutback from the impressive Kiyan Nassiri. Odisha had a great chance to make it 3 late in the half, but Pranjal Bhumij fluffed his lines when presented two back-to-back one-on-one chances. With Bagan throwing the proverbial kitchen sink at Odisha, Hector Yuste - acting as an additional centre-forward - flicked on a straightforward punt into the area, where Sadiku was quickest to react as he nutmegged Amrinder SIngh with a toe-poke finish.
There was controversy after the final whistle when Bagan coach Juan Ferrando confronted Odisha forward Roy Krishna face-to-face and the two had to be seperated, a mini-brawl ensued and once the dust settled both Ferrando and Odisha forward Diego Mauricio were sent off by the referee.
