Under Armour All-American DE Dominique Easley (Staten Island, N.Y./Curtis) committed to Penn State in September, but recently made an official visit to Oregon. This past weekend Easley made an official visit to Penn State.
"Everything went good," Easley said. "I had a good time. The academics speak for themselves. Everything was the way it is supposed to be."
Easley has continued to stay in touch with the Oregon coaches. He made his official visit with the Ducks when they played Oregon State.
"I'm still committed to Penn State," Easley said while on his way home from State College. "But I haven't decided for sure."
When asked when he will make his final decision, Easley said, "I don't know."
While Easley is not sure when he will make his final announcement, he said he is sure he will not take any other official visits.
The 6-foot-3, 260-pounder led his team to a 32-4 record over the past three seasons including an 11-2 record this season. He missed two games with an injury his senior season, but still made close to 75 tackles including 17 sacks.
Cooper visits Illinois, may visit Irish again
Defensive back Corey Cooper (Maywood, Ill./Proviso East), who committed to Illinois last April, made his official visit with the Fighting Illini over the weekend.
"It was good," Cooper said. "I got a chance to see the coaches and hang out with the players and go to the (football) banquet. I had a good time."
Cooper said he remains committed to Illinois, but has not made a final decision on his college.
Despite his commitment to the Illini, Cooper had previously made official visits to Notre Dame, Nebraska and Arizona.
"I had wanted to make a final decision (by now), but with the Notre Dame situation I'm going to take more time," Cooper said. "I may go back there for an unofficial visit. I talked to coach (Brian) Kelly."
Cooper, who said he probably will not take another official visit, said he is still considering Arizona and Nebraska as well.
The 6-1, 193-pounder made 84 tackles and intercepted two passes during his senior season. He also played wide receiver and caught 52 passes with 11 touchdowns.
Two visits down, at least one to go for Gaston
Defensive lineman Bruce Gaston Jr. (Chicago/St. Rita) made an official visit to Wisconsin over the weekend. The trip started on Thursday and wrapped up on Saturday afternoon.
"It went pretty well," Gaston said. "My main thing going there was to get to know the coaches more. It went pretty well. My host, David Gilbert, did a good job of showing me the ropes."
Gaston has made official visits to Wisconsin and Purdue.
"I had a visit to Arizona this Friday, but I called them and changed it to Jan. 8 because we have finals this week," Gaston said. "After that I'm not sure. I'll figure it out as I go along."
Gaston is also considering Michigan State, Notre Dame, Boston College and Miami.
"I talked to Notre Dame on Saturday night," Gaston said. "I talked to Michigan State (on Sunday)."
Gaston continues to say he does not have a favorite.
The 6-3, 304-pounder made 45 tackles, including five sacks during his junior season. During his senior season he made 85 tackles including 11 sacks.
