Roto-league rankings and reaction
LeBron James slides down to No. 2 after a downturn in his play over the last week, while Milwaukee's Giannis Antetokounmpo -- the preseason No. 1 -- returns to the top spot.
Stephen Curry's instant impact after returning to the court coupled with Kevin Durant missing time due to injury leaves the two Golden State stars at different spots, with Durant falling to No. 4 and Curry jumping to No. 6.
Chris Paul makes a move up to No. 12 after a big week without James Harden in the lineup, while Harden -- who will be reevaluated next week and could be out longer than that -- falls one spot behind his teammate at No. 13.
Other notable players to move up in the rankings include a surging trio of guards -- DeMar DeRozan (26), Kris Dunn (42) and Lou Williams (47).
DeRozan erupted for 35 points in two different games last week after going for 52 last Monday. He has made 53.2 percent of his shots in the last five games and, more importantly for roto leagues, 2.8 3-pointers per game during that same span. It's a big deal for DeRozan's value that he's taking -- and making -- more shots from distance.
Dunn continues to impress with his improved offensive game and smothering defense. The No. 5 overall pick in 2015 has dished out at least eight assists in his last four games and has impressive scoring nights of 32, 22 and 19 since the calendar flipped to 2018. He is also among the best in the league at steals (1.9 per game this season) and adding 4.6 RPG.
Williams gets to the line as well as just about any veteran in the league, making 90.3 percent of his attempts on the season, and has scored 33 points or more in three of the last five games. With Blake Griffin again out of the lineup, this time because of a concussion, Williams is taking more than 20 shots a game and lighting up the scoreboard like he always has in his 13 years in the league.
J.J. Barea (101), Michael Beasley (104), Ish Smith (107) and Markieff Morris (114) are four others to make a big jump this week due to increased consistency in recent weeks.
Chicago's Zach LaVine is set to make his season-debut on Saturday and is No. 90 this week, with the opportunity to rise quickly if he's able to make a sudden impact on the young Bulls roster. With Nikola Mirotic also the subject of trade rumors, LaVine will be leaned on heavily as a scorer over the second half of the season.
Those dropping in the rankings include the Damian Lillard (14), Marc Gasol (24), Al Horford (29), Joe Ingles (86) and the injured Reggie Jackson (125). Jackson isn't expected to be available until after the Al-Star break, which means roughly another month of Smith running the point for the Pistons.
Injured veterans Rudy Gay, Isaiah Canaan and Dion Waiters fall off the list this week.
