The next installment of the Call of Duty franchise will be titled Black Ops: Cold War, according to a video posted Wednesday on Call of Duty's YouTube page. The game, which is being developed by Treyarch and Raven Software, will have a worldwide reveal on Aug. 26.

The teaser trailer posted on YouTube didn't show any gameplay, but it included historical Cold War-era footage, including references to Perseus, the code name of an alleged Soviet spy, and Soviet journalist and KGB defector Yuri Bezmenov.

The Cold War time frame is typically considered from the 1947 Truman Doctrine foreign policy declaration to the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991.

This will mark the first Black Ops game since Black Ops 4 in 2018. The first Black Ops game was released in 2010. Treyarch also developed Black Ops 1 through 4. Black Ops: Cold War will be the 19th title in the Call of Duty franchise.

Activision had previously confirmed that Black Ops: Cold War will be connected to the popular Warzone battle royale mode.

Though the announcement of the new game has come later in the year than previous Call of Duty game announcements, there were many leaks as to what the theme and name would possibly be, including by a marketing activation with Doritos.
