Call of Duty Season 4: What the pros think

Provided by Activision

Infinity Ward has officially released Season 4 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

The patch notes are live and include a road map of updates including new operators, weapons and multiplayer modes to come throughout the season.

Live now are new operator Captain Price, two new weapons, a new multiplayer map, Scrapyard, gunfight map, Trench, and ground war map, Barakett Promenade.

In Warzone, a new contract called "Contraband" as well as a new game mode, 50 vs. 50 rumble, have been added.

ESPN reached out to Call of Duty League pros, coaches and casters to get their initial reactions on Season Four.

Ricky "Atura" Lugo, Mutineers coach: For Warzone I enjoy it. I noticed the default gun drops have been changed from being more consistent of shotguns and pistols to more primary weapons in which I believe creates more consistent gunfights. So initial thought is it will probably be the best version of Warzone we've had (for now). Regarding the new guns, I'm interested to see if they can be comp viable. The Vector seems viable due to its close range ability, but I think the MP5 is still overall a better gun. As for the Galil I think it has too much kickback, so I don't think it will beat out the M4. Overall I think the initial patch is good, they improved Warzone as a whole and tried mixing up the game a bit adding close to viable guns for comp. Haven't tested spawns yet to see if they've been adjusted, but if it's improving the game I'm all for it.

Adam "GodRx" Brown, Minnesota RØKKR: I like how they introduced Scrapyard 24/7 since it was an iconic map in Modern Warfare 2, I also like how they added new maps, modes, weapons to keep the game feeling fresh.

Philip "Momo" Whitfield, Call of Duty League caster: The Vector seems like a laser. I'm excited for the new weapons and potential new meta.

Carson "Brack" Newberry, Toronto Ultra: I'm actually really excited, it looks really cool and I love grinding pubs to go for something. Since I'm on the bench this is one of the few things I look forward to (getting to level 155 again) and getting new skins for my characters, etc.

Mark "MarkyB" Bryceland, Toronto Ultra coach: One thing I've noticed on the competitive side of things is the viability of the FENNEC or the Vector from previous CoDs. Especially on the close quarters maps.

Joey "Nubzy" DiGiacomo, Seattle Surge coach: I'm a big fan of the new DLC guns and hope there can potentially be a way to see those in a competitive meta. Other than that, still need to play a lot and test things out. But I'm excited for it.

Ashley "MiDNiTE" Glassel, Minnesota RØKKR content director: I am super stoked for the new Season 4 update, especially when it comes to Warzone. I am looking forward to using the Captain Price eliminations on people.

Anthony "Methodz" Zinni, Toronto Ultra: At first glance, it seems two new guns added to the game could be viable for competitive play. Will need to do some more testing but if we could incorporate some of these new weapons into competitive play, it'll be a breath of fresh air for both players and fans alike. As for Warzone, I have yet to play but I've had the chance to watch some streamers play. New and exciting things in Call of Duty are imperative in seeing that things don't become stale. It seems the hype is real the people are excited!
