Infinity Ward to take further action against racist content

Infinity Ward, the developer of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, released a statement Wednesday saying it will increase efforts to remove any racist mentions and references from its game.

"There is no place for racist content in our game," the statement began. "This is an effort we began with launch and we need to do a better job. We're issuing thousands of daily bans of racist and hate-oriented names. But we know we have to do more -- and we are."

The statement went on to explain that additional resources will be added to monitor and identify racist content, as well as additional in-game reporting systems to increase the number of bans by hour. Additional filters will be added to increase restrictions on name changes. Further measures will be put in place to make it easier to report offenders, and permanent bans will be increased to weed out repeat offenders.

This statement from Infinity Ward follows a statement on Monday from Activision Blizzard through the Call of Duty twitter account, which announced that the launch of Modern Warfare Season 4 and Call of Duty: Mobile Season 7 will be delayed to later dates yet to be announced. "Right now it's time for those speaking up for equality, justice and change to be seen and heard," part of the statement read.
