Three of the four semifinalists in OGN Overwatch APEX Season 2 have been decided through trial of fire and brimstone. The winner of the day's match would see LW Blue join the ranks, but first they had to face off with KongDoo Panthera, who had gone undefeated in the group stages.
LW Blue took to the streets of Oasis faster than students on summer vacation, claiming its territory in extremely quick and powerful fashion. Park "Saebyeolbe" Jong Yeol began his dominance over the entire series on Roadhog, along with Hwang "Fl0w3R" Yeon Oh on Genji and other various DPS characters. Taking two quick points on Oasis, the team showed a little bit of greed while defending on the next map, King's Row - a misplay from LW Blue's Song "janus" Jun-hwa on Reinhardt gave KDP the means to finish the map in overtime.
Unshaken, LW bounce back by finishing the map and winning in the timebank round, gaining a 2-0 lead in the series. KDP took the opportunity to bite back on Temple of Anubis where they stormed both points, and held LW Blue off the second point despite a huge time lead of six minutes to assault the second point. Thanks to the efforts of both Kim "Rascal" Dong Jun and An "Wakawaka" Jee Ho on Genji and Pharah respectively, they were able to KDP to victory on Temple of Anubis, eliminating major threats especially with the backup of their team.
With the set at 2-1, LW Blue decided to end things once and for all on Route 66. Both teams were able to finish the map but once again, KongDoo Panthera had to do it in overtime whereas LW Blue had over three minutes to push the payload as far as they could compared to the one minute of compensation from having done it in overtime. Despite their greatest efforts, Saebyeolbe overpowered Kongdoo on Roadhog, even able to hook a sleep darted Rascal from beneath a Reinahardt shield. With the victory on Route 66 LW claims victory 3-1 and earn the right to challenge RunAway in the semifinals match.
