Team Liquid has signed Yiliang "Doublelift" Peng to a contract through the end of the North American League of Legends Championship Series spring split, the team's co-owner Steve Arhancet announced on the organization's Facebook page Tuesday night.
Known as one of the best AD Carries in North America, Doublelift was not participating in the 2017 spring split after taking a step down from the starting lineup of Team SoloMid following the 2016 World Championships. Since then, he's been streaming on Twitch while remaining listed as a substitute for TSM.
The move to TL comes as part of a transaction between Liquid and Team SoloMid. While Arhancet did not disclose terms of the trade, he did say "I came to an agreement with [Andy "Reginald" Dinh] and Doublelift for this to happen." Arhancet said several times that this move is temporary for the final weeks of the spring split to help ensure his team's survival in the North American LCS.
TSM confirmed the transaction and scope of the deal in a separate announcement, noting that Doublelift intends to try out for TSM for the summer split. Current ADC Jason 'WildTurtle' Tran is likely to remain on the roster, according to the team's post, although it is possible he would be the substitute for the organization for the summer and any postseason events.
The deal has "initial approval" from Riot Games but is pending full approval, according to a statement from Team Liquid.
Liquid currently sits tied for ninth in the NA LCS standings with only three weeks left to play. Doublelift will make his debut with Liquid against Cloud9 on Friday at 6 p.m. ET.
