Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 wins Evo vote, raises over $71,000 for charity

Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 fans raised an impressive $71,690 for Make-a-Wish International, winning the coveted final spot at the Evolution Championship Series on July 14-16.

Pokkén Tournament trailed closely with $66,906 raised, providing stiff competition from Nintendo's Pokémon brawler, which caters to a younger audience.

Between both games, Pokkén Tournament had a higher donation amount per person when compared to UMvC3. With 744 donors, it averages out to $82.93 per donation. Compare that to the number of donors for UMvC3, 1,487, it amounts to $48.21 per donation.

Between all the games involved in the vote, over $150,000 was raised.

With the win, UMvC3 not only gets into Evo, but will open Sunday's championship finals.

As for the rest of games that were in contention, Killer Instinct came in third with $6,116, Windjammers was fourth ($4,000) and oddly Arms fifth ($1,337).

Arms, Nintendo's new motion-controlled fighter for the Switch, had an impressive showing. The game, which has yet to hit store shelves, beat out classics like Skullgirls by $417 and Street Fighter II: Turbo by $506.

At the bottom was indie-jousting game Nidhogg at $158. Mortal Kombat XL was last at $137.
