The former Team SoloMid Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team has been acquired by Misfits, the organization announced Saturday. The news comes swiftly after Team SoloMid announced the CS:GO roster's departure. The move was the result of an agreement between Misfits and TSM that was brokered by Chris "HuK" Loranger.

The team first formed in 2016, and, after roster additions in the latter part of the year, included Sean "sgares" Gares, Shahzeb "ShahZaM" Khan, Hunter "SicK" Mims, Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken and Skyler "Relyks" Weaver. The roster will stay the same at Misfits and will compete in ESL Pro League Season 4 after its recent qualification.

The CS:GO team left Team SoloMid over a very public recent dispute between the two parties. The team's in-game leader Gares was terminated by the organization after conflict between both parties came to a head over disagreements around the Professional Esports Association. That association, of which SoloMid was a member team, intended to remove all of its teams from the ESL Pro League. Gares and many other players opposed this movement publicly in an open letter, which began arguments between Gares and SoloMid owner Andy "Reginald" Dinh.

While that decision to remove the team from Pro League failed in a unanimous vote by the players, the relationship, according to Dinh, was "tarnished" during the process. According to the TSM announcement, the players wanted to continue to play with Gares even after he was released from the organization, which precipitated the entire roster's departure.
