FlyQuest, the North American League of Legends team owned by Milwaukee Bucks co-owner Wesley Edens and his Fortress Investment Group, has signed its fifth player to fill out its jungle position.
The team has signed former Team Liquid Academy and NRG Esports jungler Galen "Moon" Holgate, sources close to the player and team told ESPN.
Moon will fill out FlyQuest's roster that is composed of four players -- An "Balls" Van Le, Hai "Hai" Du Lam, Johnny "Altec" Ru and Daerek "LemonNation" Hart -- that Edens and the FlyQuest organization purchased from Cloud9 for $700,000 in contract buyouts.
Before pursuing Moon, the team negotiated and neared agreement with Canadian top laner-turned-jungler Andy "Chorong" Hoang, the cousin of its top laner Balls, sources close to both parties told ESPN. That deal ultimately did not go through because of last-minute visa complications that could not be resolved before Riot Games' roster lock deadline Wednesday, sources say.
FlyQuest entered the North American LCS by purchasing the Cloud9 Challenger team in December following its qualification into the league four months earlier. According to a Riot Games rule, no one organization is allowed to have more than one team in the professional league, forcing Cloud9 to sell its second team. It ultimately sold the slot and the four players to Edens and Fortress for a record-setting $2.5 million, the biggest investment into the LCS, according to sources.
Before signing with FlyQuest, Moon competed on the Team Liquid squad, primarily on its Academy team in the latter half of 2016. The 19-year-old North American began his year competing on NRG Esports in the League Championship Series before ultimately being replaced during the midyear break in May.
