Leonardo "MKLeo" Lopez Perez, a 15-year-old Super Smash Bros. for Wii U player, has signed with esports organization Echo Fox, sources close to the player and the deal tell ESPN.
He is expected to debut the sponsorship for the first time at Genesis 4 in San Jose, California on Jan. 20.
The signing comes after the Mexican Marth player recently took first place at 2GGT: ZeRo Saga in Las Vegas on Dec. 18. Throughout 2016, he's placed first at Canada Cup and more than a handful of Smash tournaments in Mexico. With his placements, he's become known as the best Smash for Wii U player in the country.
He is Echo Fox's second signing in Super Smash Bros. after Melee legend Jason "Mew2King" Zimmerman joined the team in May.
The organization started in Dec. 2015 after former Los Angeles Lakers player Rick Fox purchased Gravity Gaming's League of Legends spot for $1 million. Since, it's expanded to Counter-Strike, Smash, Street Fighter, Call of Duty, Gears of War and H1Z1.
