The Rocket League Championship Series Open qualifiers ended with the top eight teams from each region coming through to regional League play. With the RLCS coming back soon, we decided to order our global top-8. League play will begin Sept. 24 before moving into a regional qualifier next month.
Here's how everyone stacks up.
8. Genesis
Genesis sits at the very bottom of our rankings. Despite making it through the loser's bracket, the team still looks confident. Although it'll need some work, a ticket to the International Finals come season's end shouldn't be out of reach. Adam "Espeon" Barth will need to provide stability for Genesis if it hopes to have a deep run in the tournament.
7. Take 3
Continuing the theme of top North American teams in the Rocket League Championship Series, Take 3 made it into League play by taking down reigning world champs G2 Esports. But with G2's massive dip in form, this only places Take 3 seventh on our rankings. If Christopher "Zanejackey" Jacobs and Dillon "Rizzo" Rizzo can create a goal-scoring partnership, Take 3 could be primed to push further than expected.
6. Precision Z
Precision Z is the first European team to enter the RLCS power rankings. It qualified for League play by taking down Supersonic Avengers. As one of the teams that look like it's entering prime form, Precision Z might just be a top team this season and topple the rankings.
5. Kings of Urban
Kings of Urban qualified with a hard fought win over Selfless and could have slotted in higher had it not showed weakness in recent weeks. Expect Kings to make it deep in the tournament and to cause any team it faces trouble. If Kais "SadJunior" Zehri and Jayson "Fireburner" Nunez can continue their streak, you can expect Kings to make it through.
4. Northern Gaming
Northern Gaming took down Ohmydog and looked good doing so despite how close the set was. Northern were contenders last season and look to be top contenders this season, too. New member David "Miztik" Lawrie will have to work hard to gel with the team if it wants to advance past the simple title of "contender." If Miztik can work his play around the old guard's style, Northern could be primed as more than just a top four team.
3. Mockit Aces
Mockit Aces are spearheaded by one of the most controversial brands in Rocket League and with one of the most controversial players on the team. If Philip "Paschy90" Paschmeyer can continue his level of solo-play and bring that to this team, he will be a key figure for Mockit Aces from start to finish.
2. Exodus
This may be a surprising pick but Exodus seems to show up for big events and should be able to come through and possibly fight for a spot at the top of Rocket League. If Exodus can push itself hard and stay focused, the team has the biggest potential cap.
1. FlipSid3 Tactics
Flipsid3 could easily be the favorites for the whole thing come season-end. With G2 seemingly falling off the pitch, Flipsid3 look to be in prime position to take the crown. Mark " Markydooda" Exton will look to do just that after the team lost Michael "M1k3rules" Costello.
