Odisha FC's Mourtada Fall celebrates with teammates after scoring against Bashundhara Kings. Odisha FC

Here at the ESPN daily blog, we bring you all the news from the dynamic world of Indian sports: a one-stop shop for everything to do with the wide variety of Olympic sports and franchise leagues.

It's a fairly quiet day today, although action continues in football and kabaddi. This blog will be updated throughout the day, so keep checking back for updates and analysis.

Here are the key updates from January 22, Monday:

PKL: Jaipur march on, Telugu Titans revival cut short

League leaders Jaipur Pink Panthers continued their good form with a relatively comfortable 42-25 victory over the Bengal Warriors, who dropped to sixth in the standings after being leapfrogged by the Haryana Steelers, who ended bottom-placed Telugu Titans' hopes of a revival with a 37-30 win.

Super Cup: Odisha FC eliminate FC Goa with thrilling 3-2 victory.

Defending champions Odisha FC ensured they will face Mumbai City in the semifinals of the Super Cup, after a 3-2 victory over FC Goa ensured they finished top of Group D.

After a sedate first half, the game came to life in the 50th minute when Diego Mauricio was brought down by Dheeraj Singh and Ahmed Jahouh duly converted the resulting penalty. Sergio Lobera's side then made it 3-0 in their favour in a 16-minute spell as Mourtada Fall scored from a corner in the 61st and a free-kick in the 66th minute with two impressive headers.

However, the defender was in the spotlight for the wrong reasons in the 76th minute, giving the ball away for Carlos Martinez to curl one into the net. The Spaniard set up a thrilling finale with a low free kick to make it 3-2 in the 86th minute, but Odisha held on to seal top spot in Group D.

Hockey: India (M) begin South Africa tour with 4-0 win over France

The Indian men's hockey team kicked off their South Africa tour on Monday with a 4-0 win against France in Cape Town. The win came via a brace from captain Harmanpreet Singh with Hardik Singh and Lalit Upadhyay also finding the net.

The week-long tournament features France, the Netherlands, India and hosts South Africa. On 24th January, India will face France in their second match, followed by a match against hosts South Africa on 26th and will take on the Netherlands on 28th January.

Super Cup: Bengaluru FC draw with Inter Kashi

Bengaluru FC needed a penalty to score their first goal of the Super Cup, with Javi Hernandes equalising from the spot in the second half after Inter Kashi had taken a first half lead. The game was effectively inconsequential as FC Goa and Odisha FC had already sealed the top two spots in Group D.

IWL: HOPS FC steal win against Sethu FC

HOPS needed a late goal to defeat Sethu FC to draw level on points with them in the table, although Sethu still remain above them in fourth place. Sethu lead for much of the game through Kaviya Pakkirisamy's 29th minute goal, only for Aarti to equalise in the 75th minute for HOPS, who eventually won it thanks to an injury-time goal by Fredrica Torkudzor.

Boxing: India squad for first World Qualification tournament

India have already secured four quotas for boxing at Paris (all in women's categories) - Nikhat Zareen (50kg), Preeti (54kg), Parveen Hooda (57kg), and Lovlina Borgohain (75kg). With quite the few still open, the first World Qualification tournament will be important.

The biggest missing name from the squad is former Asian Games and Commonwealth Games Amit Panghal. Representing India will be:

Women's

Jaismine (60kg)

Ankushita Boro (66kg)

Men's

Deepak Bhoria (51kg)

Mohammed Hussamuddin (57kg)

Shiva Thapa (63.5kg)

Nishant Dev (71kg)

Narender Berwal (+92kg)

Sat-Chi lose, but gain fuel for Paris

"I personally feel sometimes losing is better, than winning always," Satwik said in the press conference after. That may sound strange without context, but for anyone who has followed these two enough, feelings like this are the fuel for their appetite.
