Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam will both return home after the Durban Test due to their injuries.

Taskin has a painful right shoulder and will be given time to recover while Shoriful, who had missed the first Test, has been diagnosed with a left ankle ligament injury.

Taskin, who bowled five overs on the fourth afternoon of the first Test against South Africa and got the big wicket of Dean Elgar, walked off holding his sore right shoulder. However, he returned later in the day, bowling the 58th over of the innings. He had already been carrying the injury from South Africa's first innings, which prevented him from bowling on the third evening, and for most of the fourth morning. The duo will return to Bangladesh on April 5.

"Taskin had complained of right shoulder pain and difficulty of movement during the second day's play in the first Test," team physio Bayjedul Islam said. "He has received physiotherapy, supportive taping and painkillers for bowling in the second innings. His recovery is expected to take around three weeks.

"Shoriful felt pain on his left ankle during training on 29 March. An MRI confirmed a grade 1 ankle impingement syndrome with medial ligament injury. He has already started his rehab and is likely to resume training towards the end of this month."

Shohidul Islam and Abu Jayed are the other two fast bowlers in the squad.

Taskin was the Player of the Series in Bangladesh's 2-1 ODI series win against South Africa last month. He took eight wickets, including a five-for in the third game. Taskin has been Bangladesh's pace spearhead in all three formats, so his absence will be a major blow to the visitors for the remainder of the series.
