  • Abbas Afridi3-0-27-4

Even though there was a rain delay, the intensity remained unaffected in both parts of the innings. Fakhar and Naeem notched up scintillating half-centuries and did the bulk of the scoring. Abbas picked up four wickets and nailed his slower ones and yorkers while Hamza kept it tight in the powerplay. The others, however, leaked plenty. There was a collapse of sorts, as apart from the openers and Abdullah Shafique, nobody really got going. Still, it's a pretty good total. Karachi now know exactly how many overs they have to chase it down whereas Lahore had to rejig their plans due to the rain. Looks like we're in for another cracking second innings; be back shortly

Hasan Ali to Asif Afridi, 1 bye, Perfection from Hasan Ali. Bowls a pearler of an off-cutter on a length that jags away from off-stump and beats his shot, they scamper through a bye
14.5
6
Hasan Ali to Asif Afridi, SIX, Oh my goodness, didn't know he has the batting prowess to hit the long ball, slot ball, half-volley on middle and leg, clears front leg and slog swept that delightfully for six over deep square, was a loose delivery and duly dispatched, opens his account with style
14.4
W
Hasan Ali to Rishad Hossain, OUT, Pace-off fraction short delivery meandering away outside off, swing and a miss, he leaves his crease and Asif Ali cannot make his ground, not even in the picture and Tim Seifert hits the bull's eye, keep running Asif, it's been a procession of wickets after the rain delay

Asif Ali run out 2 (2b 0x4 0x6) SR: 100

W
Hasan Ali to Shaheen Shah Afridi, OUT, Abbas at deep square snaffles it above head height while moving to his right, excellent catch, Abbas is having a great day! This was pitched a touch short and he got him in a tangle, he took the short ball and swung hard but just not enough to clear the ropes

Shaheen Shah Afridi c Abbas Afridi b Hasan Ali 0 (2b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0

Do you think Lahore have enough on the board?

14.2
0
Hasan Ali to Shaheen Shah Afridi, no run, On a length and hung away outside off, rolling his fingers, not giving the pace he is after, he goes down on one leg and tries an agricultural slog across the line and only connects with fresh air

1
Hasan Ali to Asif Ali, 1 run, Over the wicket, near yorker length just outside off, drags it across the line to deep square region

W
Abbas Afridi to Fakhar Zaman, OUT, And he's gone right after the milestone, Abbas has the last laugh. Bit of anticlimactic end, he would be gutted with himself, still one over left and he could have done some severe damage. Abbas fires a pinpoint accurate yorker on middle just like his uncle Umar Gull used to do and the disturbs the furniture. Fakhar wanted to guide it behind square on leg and couldn't connect

Fakhar Zaman b Abbas Afridi 51 (33b 4x4 3x6) SR: 154.54

13.5
2
Abbas Afridi to Fakhar Zaman, 2 runs, Picks up the full-toss from middle and swats it to deep square's right, brings up another highly entertaining half-century, batted in top gear and didn't drop intensity a wee bit, looks like he is at the pinnacle of his career, his mindset is phenomenal
13.4
1
Abbas Afridi to Asif Ali, 1 run, Pitch up and slanting in at off, picked early and driven exquisitely along the ground to extra cover, crisply struck
13.3
W
Abbas Afridi to Sikandar Raza, OUT, Stone dead lbw. Sends this one on a touch fuller length and gets a hint of inward nip back and the ball crashes onto his front pad, prompts an lbw appeal and Ahsan Raza agrees, up goes the finger. Actually it hit the back pad as he missed a flick. A lot going in the favor of bowler. He is walking off after taking the review, doesn't have a strong case. Pitching outside off, impact in line and hitting middle-stump, Raza continues to walk off

Sikandar Raza lbw b Abbas Afridi 8 (6b 0x4 0x6) SR: 133.33

Abbas Afridi to Sikandar Raza, 1 wide, Spears in on a length and it seams away a touch from the wide line on off
13.2
1
Abbas Afridi to Fakhar Zaman, 1 run, Slams a yorker on middle and leg, was trying a cheeky scoop behind square on leg, unable to execute it properly

Wajid Jawaid: "Drinks break after a prolonged rain break when only there were a handful of overs to play before the end of innings? A commercial obligation surely!"

13.1
6
Abbas Afridi to Fakhar Zaman, SIX, Brute force in those wrists, lovely to watch when in full tilt, slightly leg-sidish and he pulls it over fine leg for a six, goes absolute enormous once again

2
Aamer Jamal to Sikandar Raza, 2 runs, Good-ish length and offers room,. thumped away from Vince at wide long-off, sent miles into the night-sky but not enough to clear the fence, Karachi have done well to pull things back a bit and bowled better after the break
12.5
1
Aamer Jamal to Fakhar Zaman, 1 run, Around the wicket again, another searing yorker dipping in at off, once again can't do much about it, forces it to long-off, excellent stuff from Jamal
12.4

Aamer Jamal to Fakhar Zaman, no run, In the blockhole on middle, pitch-perfect yorker, jammed back to the bowler
12.3
1
Aamer Jamal to Sikandar Raza, 1 run, Pursues with the yorker ploy, on middle, near yorker, opens the face and steers it out to third man up in the ring, he is usually good at the death, got a very potent yorker up his sleeve
12.2
2
Aamer Jamal to Sikandar Raza, 2 runs, Yorker fired into off, shoveled into the gap at midwicket
12.1
2
Aamer Jamal to Sikandar Raza, 2 runs, A high full-toss angled into middle and leg, he got surprised by the height, rooted back in his crease and fended in front of midwicket and hares for a couple

W
Mir Hamza to Billings, OUT, Wow, that's an absolutely screamer, like a cheetah closing in on its prey, Jamal dives to his left, went airbone at mid-off and plucked it out of thin air. It was bit short and angled across off, he cracks it imperiously. Super stuff but the idea is right as Lahore wants to accelerate and make full use of the death overs
