Thank you for tuning in to our coverage. We hope you enjoyed it. The action will continue with the double header coming up. You can catch Multan taking on Quetta here. For now, this is me, Ekanth, signing off on behalf of out scorer, Ranjith P. Take care.
Post Match Interviews:
Mohammad Haris, POTM for his 70 (32): I try to apply pressure from ball one and go big in the powerplay. I premeditate sometimes but try to read what the bowler is doing based on the field placements. Peshawari players work hard and are, thus, successful.
Asif Ali, Islamabad Captain: The pitch was great and the total was good but reachable. We started well but could not carry through. The death wickets were costly and led to the loss.
Wahab Riaz, Peshawar Captain: The wicket was great for batting as I mentioned in the toss, we capitalized in the powerplay and that took us to a good total. Haris has been the difference as he's going big in the powerplay. The 19th over was important but I kept my belief. Getting Azam out made it easier. On peaking at the right time, this will take us further in the playoffs as this will give us confidence. Hope we can continue performing well there.
This win consolidates Peshawar's position at third place in the Points Table. While the chances of getting to the top two are almost not on, they should get through to the playoffs. Quetta will be the collateral beneficiaries of this game as it still keeps them in the hunch.
arif: "Zalmi snatch Victory in last 3 overs" It could have been the other way around as they did when they had lost the steam in the first innings. But the last three overs went for 20 runs. It was practically all over once Azam got out. The innings started brilliantly for Islamabad as Gubraz rode his luck and whacked it everywhere. Wickets made regular appearances but everytime the spinner was on, Azam and some of the others took them apart. The cross seam deliveries were very effective and dew did not matter too much as Peshawar held their nerve and win by 10 runs.
11:42 pm Islamabad took it to the wire but couldn't finish off a 200+ chase against Peshawar. They started off with a flourish that was parallel to their opposition. Azam Khan played a scintillating knock that ran Peshawar close. But neither he nor his teammates could finish it off and the relief is palpable on the faces of Wahab and Haris.
