Shadow-Shell: "2nd highest first innings score of the tournament"

7:15pm 124, on paper, might not seem a lot but this is the first time a team has breached the 120-mark at Sharjah this T20 World Cup. Much of that was down to Wolvaardt establishing a good foundation and Dercksen finishing things off at the end. Kapp's cameo was also handy and while this might not seem a ground-breaking total, it gives South Africa enough to work with.

England, strangely enough, will be happy chasing this score too. When Brits and Wolvaardt were together, it seemed they would capitalize on the middle overs and put England to the sword. England's barrage of spin, though, came to the fore thereafter. Ecclestone was the pick, with Dean, Glenn and Smith also among the wickets. Sciver-Brunt, in fact, was the most expensive of the bowlers.

This game is now set up nicely, where both teams will feel they have a shot at victory. Join us in a bit for the run-chase!

Sarah Glenn: We played here the other night and got to learn the conditions a bit better. Had the same plans and wanted to execute a little better. Our communication off the field has been brilliant on what is working. Really good from us I think. (On what they need to do better with the bat) Just more of the basics. We started off really well (against Bangladesh), playing straight. Hopefully we can go out there and execute.

Nat Sciver-Brunt to Dercksen, no run, and it is a dot! What an anti-climax! Slower ball on a back of a length outside off. Dercksen nearly swings herself off her feet but does not pick the variation. Swings too early and only grabs a handful of fresh air!

Last ball coming up...

Nat Sciver-Brunt to Dercksen, FOUR, streaky but they all count! Dercksen is having fun out there! Zipped in full on leg stump. Dercksen tries to tonk it into tomorrow and gets an inside edge that races away past short fine leg!

Nat Sciver-Brunt to Dercksen, FOUR, oh, hello - that is another powerful stroke! Marginally short on leg stump and this is slanting into the body. Dercksen uses that angle and then hammers it between deep mid wicket and deep square leg!

Can Dercksen find the fence?

19.3
1
Nat Sciver-Brunt to de Klerk, 1 run, short outside off. de Klerk waits for it and tugs it towards deep backward square leg. Dercksen is happy to keep strike

1
Nat Sciver-Brunt to Dercksen, 1 run, dug into the track outside off. Dercksen swings for the hills and shanks it on the bounce to long on

W
Nat Sciver-Brunt to Dercksen, OUT, oh dear - when things aren't going your way, they aren't going your way! Slanted in very full outside off. Dercksen drills it back at NSB, who, perhaps in trying to get her foot out of the way, plays the perfect outside-of-the-boot pass onto the stumps at the bowler's end. Luus is stranded, and England have another. Beth Mead would have been proud of that bit of footwork!

W
Ecclestone to Kapp, OUT, Ecclestone does the business for England again! Slowed up a smidgen on a length on middle and off, and that does Kapp all ends up. She advances but soon realizes she is nowhere to the pitch of the ball. Has an agricultural swipe at it eventually and misses (unsurprisingly). Stumps disturbed again, and England keep chipping away!

M Kapp b Ecclestone 26 (20m 17b 3x4 0x6) SR: 152.94

130 still very much within reach. Can SA get there? Here's Ecclestone

Smith to Dercksen, SIX, oh my days - that is a huge hit! Floated up outside off and this lands in the slot. Dercksen winds up and smites it over deep mid wicket. Clean strike, and that is the first six of the innings!

W
Dean to Tryon, OUT, knocks her over! Dean gets a wicket with her last ball of the evening! Fizzed through full and straight, slanting slightly into leg stump. Tryon, perhaps in pre-meditated fashion, gives Dean the charge but ends up yorking herself. The ball goes past the bat, pin-balls off the pads and into the stumps. SA losing their way!

CL Tryon b Dean 2 (5m 5b 0x4 0x6) SR: 40.00

Dean pulls out after Tryon shimmies a little around her crease

16.5
1
Dean to Kapp, 1 run, very full just outside off. Kapp gets down on one knee and sweeps it towards deep square leg
16.4
4
Dean to Kapp, FOUR, another glorious shot! Angled into the pads, perhaps designed to cramp Kapp for room. She steps down enough to the leg side, though, and then snaps her wrists into the stroke, whipping it between deep mid wicket and long on!
