11:15pm That will be all from us for this game. We hope you enjoyed our coverage just as much as we loved bringing it to you. Until next time, on behalf of everyone at ESPNcricinfo, this is goodbye!
Imran Tahir, Guyana Amazon Warriors captain: It was a big game for us. The boys played really well. They set up a nice total for us to defend. It was difficult after 12 overs and the dew came in. We wanted to bat first and wanted to put a big score on the board. Really well played to Hetmyer, Hope and Azam, who gave a good start. (Critical moments they won) Moeen bowled well, we kept taking wickets. We bowled really well as a bowling group. Proud of the boys. Nice to have those guys (Moeen, Motie, Junior Sinclair) in your group. This pitch also offered a bit of spin but the way our batters played - it was nice to see how Hetmyer and Hope played. We know they can take the attack to any bowling attack. We did not adjust as quick as we could (in the previous games). They came back, had a good plan and the way they delivered (tonight), it was nice to see. (On Miller playing 500 T20s) He played really well. Want to congratulate him on his 500 matches. The ball getting wet helped (him) and we could not bowl Junior Sinclair also due to his injury. He was a match-up (against Miller). Shamar was a bit under the weather and was not feeling great. He is key for us going forward and we just wanted to rest him.
Rovman Powell, Barbados Royals captain: Credit has to be given to them - they came out firing and totally outplayed us. (On Miller) To play 500 games, you must be doing something right. He has been a good player not just for South Africa but for all the teams he has played for around the world. Nice that he is getting back into form (ahead of the playoffs). We know what we are going to go with in the playoffs (with respect to our playing eleven). Winning builds confidence but we know not to get too down with a few losses. The real business starts next week (in the playoffs).
Shai Hope, Player of the Match: Had a different game-plan going into the game today. Every time I play against the Royals, there's a different buzz. (On his approach against left-arm spin) Intent and understanding what to do - I was trying to be up for the challenge and be ready. To be at your best, you have to ensure you are mentally strong and on point skill-wise. Very important to keep that mental side of the things strong and then you keep ticking boxes with your skill. We (Hetmyer and me) bat well together. We complement each other well and understand when to go and when not to go. As long as we keep doing that, we could go all the way.
10:58pm A vintage David Miller fireworks display at the end but the outcome seemed a foregone conclusion once Powell was dismissed. The Royals had not covered themselves in any batting glory prior to that either and this game, which could have been one where they flexed their muscles, morphed into one where their shortcomings resurfaced. Again. Apart from de Kock and Miller, none of the batters went past 20 and that, in a nutshell, encapsulates the problems the Royals have to tide over.
A well-rounded bowling display by the Warriors, who suffocated the visitors with a barrage of spin. Motie got it all underway in the first over, before Pretorius removed Athanaze in the fourth over. Moeen then accounted for de Kock and that set in motion a mini-collapse, instigated by Tahir through the middle overs. Pretorius and Shepherd also got some death-bowling practice against Miller, and the Warriors will feel they have accomplished all they'd have sought to achieve tonight.
Shepherd to bowl the last over
