Tabraiz Shamsi: "About six months ago, my bowling action and run-up were changed, and I was trying to persevere with that to find my rhythm. But it wasn't working. So, after the first game of the CPL, I went back to my room and spoke to myself, saying, 'I have to go back to what I've been doing over the years.' It's brought me this far, and thankfully, I found my rhythm with my old action. It's been going well. [Celebrations] I'm somebody who likes to express myself and give my heart to the team. The Caribbean is a place that allows me to be myself. My celebrations are enjoyed, which makes me enjoy myself on the field. That frees me up to bowl and express myself. [On Coach Sammy's Support] Darren Sammy messaged me that same night after the first game and said, 'Look, it doesn't matter. You are one of our main weapons, and I'll back you all the way.' As a player, that's what you need. You don't need people around you in the good times; you need them when you're going through a tough time. That message really pumped me up and gave me the confidence that I don't have to worry about a bad performance. When you're not worrying about that, good performances generally come. As a bowling unit, you're never quite happy with the runs you give away. I would have liked at least 20-25 runs less. But that's a game of cricket. We can't be expecting to bowl teams out for 120 every game. We did what we could, we tried our best, and now we back our batters to go out there and do the job for the team."
12:52 pm The Royals will be delighted with their batting heroics in the death overs, as they smashed an incredible 61 runs from the last three! The start, however, was full of drama. Brandon King was dropped in the third over, and after getting a life on a no-ball, Quinton de Kock gifted his wicket away on the very next delivery after the free hit. King continued his form from the last match, timing the ball beautifully and finding boundaries, scoring 42 runs off 31 balls before he tripped and miscued a slog-sweep to get out. Alleyne also departed after scoring a quick 39 runs off 21 deliveries to a brilliant delivery from Shamsi. The runs dried up in the middle overs, but the innings had a turning point. Chris Green and Rovman Powell got the tempo up, striking 20 runs in the 18th over off Wiese and 21 runs in Joseph's penultimate over. Powell hit a blistering 41 runs off 17 balls, and Green scored 25 runs off 14, putting up a partnership of 71 runs in just 32 deliveries to give their bowlers a massive total to defend. Shamsi was once again the pick of the bowlers, bagging three wickets despite the late onslaught, while Potgieter and Pierre picked up one wicket each.
Manoj: "Last 3 overs completely shifted the momentum, Weise completely changed the game from the time he took the ball. "
