Brandon King: "At the 10-over break, we wanted to get at least 180 runs. We would have liked some more with the foundation we had, but 187 is not a bad score. I just wanted to get the team off to a good start. I struggled a bit early on, so I'm just glad that I was able to contribute in the middle and in the back end. We have full confidence in our bowlers. It's a good score."
DaWolf: "Much, much better batting performace. from the Royals. Slow start but then King took over and nearly smashed a century. Much better batting order as well. It should be enough against a weak looking batting lineup for Falcons. Credit to Irshad on the bowling front, he looks excellent."
8:48 pm The Royals' batters stepped up right on time in a must-win game! While they had another slow Powerplay; they still managed to build a strong total. The tone of the innings changed entirely when Brandon King was dropped on zero by Gous in the second over, a regulation catch that proved to be very costly. King was the aggressive batter, striking a few big sixes in the Powerplay, while his partner Quinton de Kock struggled to rotate the strike. The opening stand lasted for 91 runs, but it ended when de Kock was run out after a miscommunication, bringing his difficult innings to a close. Sherfane Rutherford was also dropped by Allen in the 18th over, but by then, the damage had already been done. Rutherford scored a blistering cameo of 29 runs off 17 balls, and Green gave the final blow with 16 runs off 6 balls. Brandon King went on to play a truly selfless knock of 98 runs, missing his third T20 century by just two runs. The Falcons' fielding was horrendous, with four dropped catches. The only bright spot for them was the magnificent bowling of Salman Irshad, who took two wickets and conceded only 13 runs in his four-over quota.
