That's a wrap on all the action of CPL from us today. Thank you for tuning in! This is Rashad Mahbub, and on behalf of Sudeep Poojar and Harshith Gowda, I'm signing off. Take care and goodnight!
Nicholas Pooran: "First of all, all praise and thanks to God and Jesus. It feels good to win. Antigua has gotten the best of us in the last three encounters, and we're just really happy we could put on a perfect performance today. [New bowling pair] No, we didn't plan anything specific for them. I think Amir was supposed to bowl that first over, and he led the way for us. For Ali Khan, it was his first game, and we wanted to give him the new ball to see if he could get something out of the track. Akeal Hosein and Andre Russell also came on board in the middle overs. It was a really blockbuster, all-round performance from our team. For me, the most important thing is our discipline and attitude. We know we're not just going to turn up in this tournament and blast things away. We have to work really hard. CPL is a very difficult tournament with a lot of quality players, including some really good local players. We have our work cut out for us, and in order to continue moving forward, we need to all come together and do our jobs. [Home ground] Trinidad is amazing. We know every time we come here, they're going to turn up in numbers, and they've just started. We've been waiting for the weekend, and hopefully, we can continue to put smiles on their faces because they deserve it."
Imad Wasim: "My quad muscle feels all right, but we'll have a scan to be sure. I was struggling a bit, so hopefully, it's nothing major. I believe we were 23 to 30 runs short, to be honest. The wicket was decent for batting, but losing wickets in clusters, like three in four balls, doesn't really help. These are the mistakes we keep repeating. The bowling side did an unbelievable job to stretch this game to the 19th over; it was a really good effort. It's the latter part of the tournament, and we have to be on from ball one. We're going to sit down and talk about how we're going to go about our business. The biggest concern is losing too many wickets in the Powerplay. Sunday is just another game. You lose some, you win some, but the approach towards the game should be right. Our attitude in the field was fantastic, and we'll take that positive from this match. We'll be back and turn out red hot again."
Player of the Match, Mohammad Amir: "I think the wicket was offering early on. And whenever I try to swing the ball when the wicket is offering, I think I am using the wicket very well. And with the new ball, I always try to swing the ball, and that was my role, and I was trying to do that. It's amazing, and I think people will come to the next games. And you know what? The best thing in Trinidad is the crowd. They are very supportive. And we are looking forward to the next game. [Celebration] I saw the video on social media. The young guy, I don't remember; he's from Indonesia or Malaysia. He was doing that. I think everybody is doing it on social media. So I thought, why not today?"
10:55 pm The Trinbago Knight Riders have finally broken their losing streak against the Falcons, getting their home leg off to a brilliant start. Alex Hales got them off to a strong start, hitting two back-to-back boundaries off McCoy. Shakib Al Hasan was brought on in the fourth over and got the wicket of Munro. Hales and Carty then built a steady partnership, surviving a few close calls as the Falcons missed multiple stumping and run-out opportunities. Hales played the anchor role, while Carty was the aggressor, smashing 60 runs off 45 deliveries before being chopped on while playing against Jayden Seales. Hales received two lives, both from Gous, who missed a stumping and a run-out chance. The opening batter made them pay, staying unbeaten to finish with 53 runs off 46 balls. Pooran came in to play a quick cameo and get his team over the line as fast as possible. It was a quiet day for the Falcons' bowlers, who missed the leadership and presence of their regular captain, Imad Wasim. With their win today, the Knight Riders move into second place with three victories. The Falcons remain at the top of the table, for the time being.
