8:44pm Wow. What a remarkable turnaround, and what a treat to watch, especially for those with a Warriors persuasion. They were tottering at 95-5 after 14 overs, with 160 seeming like a tough task. But then, Shepherd ripped Thomas to shreds, although the latter did not help himself with a string of No balls. Shepherd continued on his merry way thereafter, also putting Gaston to the sword and finished with 73 off 34, which has catapulted the Warriors to a score in excess of 200, which, at one point, seemed unimaginable.
The Kings, to an extent, will still be shell-shocked, given all that transpired. They seemed to be in control of the game until...they were not. There were several unforced errors, especially towards the end and that has meant they will now be chasing a stiff score. The track looks good for batting, but a chase above 200 is never easy. Join us in a bit for the second innings!
Romario Shepherd: It was a good wicket. Just was trying to get into a good position and that is what I did from ball one. The pace-on ball was easy to hit and the slower ones were also not gripping. (On his approach) Keep a clear mind and react to the ball, forgetting the position the team is in. I took more chances going down the wind. (On targeted scored) We wanted to take our chances down the wind, and I could take one or two chances against the wind as well (with it not being very strong). We need to bowl well to defend. 200 is par tonight because the wicket is very good. The spinners were a bit more challenging than the fast bowlers. (Birthday message to his son) He asked me if I could get a five-for, but I got some runs (for him). Hopefully I can go out there and get a few wickets as well.
200 up for the Warriors
Final over coming up, and the Kings, if they had not made it tougher for themselves before, now have to contend with an extra fielder in the ring. Gaston to bowl the 20th. 200 very much on the cards
