8:50pm An innings that seemed to be stuck in third or fourth gear throughout. The only time it threatened to go into over-drive was when Rossouw was at the crease and clearing the fence at will. Fletcher also managed a half-century but his 62 came off 50 balls, which on a decent batting track, could come back to haunt the Patriots.
As for the Kings, they will be pleased with their effort. Their spinners were exceptional, with Noor leading the way. No other bowler really stood out, although each of them did the job that was expected of them, with Chase, Descarte, Joseph and Wiese among the wickets. They will fancy their chances of getting this done, despite the Patriots having a couple of top-class wrist-spinners. Join us in a bit for the second innings.
David Wiese: We would have taken it at the start of the innings. We felt 180 would have been par. We came in with our plans and tried to execute them as well as we could. (On the catch to dismiss Fletcher) Things move a little bit slow at the beginning but once the legs get going…the catch tonight was a little bit easier. We have to take advantage of the powerplay. They have some good spinners in the middle and we have to be proactive against them as well. Hopefully, we can be positive at the start and chase it down.
