9:38pm A fifty on debut for Jewel Andrew, and that has catapulted the Falcons to 163. This was after a middle-overs period where they seemed to struggle, especially against the spin of Nedd and Shamsi. Prior to that, Zaman had set the powerplay alight and those two knocks, coupled with Allen and Billings' useful cameos, mean that the Falcons now have something to defend.

The Patriots might not be very displeased chasing this total. Nedd and Shamsi were tidy and Nortje bowled with fire throughout. The rest took a bit of tap, with Drakes, John and Mayers conceding 83 runs in their eight overs. Given the firepower they have, they will be confident of chasing this total down, even if the pitch has offered a hint of assistance to the bowlers. Join us in a bit for the second innings!

Jewel Andrew: (On his mindset) I wanted to play what I know. He (Shai Hope) is someone I look up to. I think it is a good score. We have decent bowlers and we can defend this total.

Nortje to Andrew, FOUR, streaky but they all count! Speared in very full on middle and leg. Andrew gets turned inside out but somehow manages an outside edge that beats short third to his left!

Are these reviews a ploy by Fletcher to slow down the game and use that time to strategize?

Nortje to Allen, 1 leg bye, speared in full on leg stump. Allen does not make contact again and the ball pings off the pads into the on side. Seemed to be sliding down but Fletcher has reviewed this too, would you believe it. Pretty sure about the outcome of this review. But it is taking extraordinarily long for the replays to come up. Tailed into the pads and replays confirm that that would have taken it past leg stump. Some more time wasted, and on we go!

Nortje to Allen, no run, full toss wide outside off. Allen throws his hands at it but is late on the stroke. A slight fumble by Fletcher but no extra runs conceded

Drakes to Allen, 1 leg bye, fuller on the pads, pitching well outside leg. Allen has another swipe at it and this time, squirts it off the inside edge towards short fine leg. Okay, hang on. Seems like the Patriots have reviewed this. No bat involved but the ball pitched a further set of stumps outside leg. Optimistic review, it must be said...
