Here's Peter Della Penna: "There are only about 700 people in the ground tonight, but five Aussies drove 20 miles south from Boca Raton to Lauderhill toting a big painted sign in support of Steve Smith who has just scored a half-century for the Barbados Tridents. Sydney natives Tim and Jane Anderson just moved to Florida in 2017 and have come to the ground with their three kids Bella (9), Will (7) and Maddie (5). When asked who his favorite player is, Will shouted, "Steve Smith!" When his dad asked who is second favorite player is, Will shouted "David Warner!" Clearly, Sandpapergate hasn't scandalized the next generation of cricketers in the way it was portrayed in some quarters."

8:14pm Wickets the problem for Tridents. They kept losing them, early on in the innings that encumbered them, and then late which may have cost them 15 runs. Badree, Oshane and Russell, at the end, doing the work in the field for Tallawahs after they'd put Tridents in. It took a solid innings from Steven Smith, who got his first CPL fifty, to lift them after a shaky start. Shai Hope played a nice supporting role. But 156 doesn't look too promising. Can they get some early wickets against a long batting line-up?

Russell to Pooran, OUT, length ball outside off, swings and misses but this time Phillips finds the mark with his tenpin bowling. Holder can't make it and the leg umpire won't even bother to send that upstairs

Russell to SPD Smith, OUT, holes out to long-on and it also looks like he's hit the wicket with his bat on the roundabout Out two ways but it'll be out caught, officially. Length ball on off stump, he's deep in the crease and he gets the slog off the toe-end. Bat swing goes all the way back onto the stumps. Rovman Powell with the catch at long-on.

Russell to Pooran, 1 run, lands short of long-off. Short ball dug in at a slow pace. There's room for Pooran but the pace means he gets it off the toe-end of the bat

Thomas to SPD Smith, no run, screams in disappointment as he misses a juicy full toss outside off. A touch on that and it would've fizzed to the point boundary

Thomas to SPD Smith, FOUR, ramps it over short fine. Not a shot he plays often. But he's shuffled a long way into the off side because that's where Oshane looks to land the yorkers. Manages to get under it and lift it over the fielder

Thomas to SPD Smith, 1 leg bye, full toss on leg stump, tucks him up and it pings off the flap of his pad. There's an edge on it first. But the umpire says that's leg byes...that looked good for an lbw if that's what he thinks...

Russell to Hope, OUT, and he's bowled. Fifth dot ball in a row. He finally gets bat on one, but this is a slower ball dug in short and he can only manage to drag it back onto the stumps. A good innings soured at the end
