12.11pm Well, that was a gutsy effort from USA, after losing two wickets in their opening over. Arshdeep was magnificent throughout, but India took their foot off the throat, with an odd over from Dube and no sign of Jadeja. Bumrah went wicketless for a change as Taylor and Nitish led the line with a brace of 20s. Hardik was excellent with the ball too.

Here is Nitish for his mid-match thoughts: "We're a bit disappointed, 20 short, but in past games 110 has been pretty tough. Nice playing this big crowd, wicket wasn't the easiest, but all about getting a big total." Short and to the point. Ekanth will be here for the chase shortly.

Andrea : "These low-scoring games remind me of the good old days when there was always something in it for the bowlers. Love the back and forth between bowler and batsman."

Vikram : "USA has done better than I expected. Well done USA. Let's C what India can do. Hope they all bat like Rishabh Pant"

W
Mohammed Siraj to Jasdeep Singh, OUT, good finish, pace back on, beats a wild wipe to leg, the batters sprint for the bye, but Pant lobs to Siraj, whose direct hit at the bowler's end is true. Out by three metres. 111 will be the target

Jasdeep Singh run out 2 (11m 7b 0x4 0x6) SR: 28.57

Vignesh: "What USA is aiming for is to set the same target imposed by India the other day against Pak!" It's all in the same ballpark... so to speak

1
Mohammed Siraj to van Schalkwyk, 1 run, full length, outside off, makes room to leg again and crashed back past the bowler. Another single to mid-off

prasanth: "Bumrah is the student who can ace very difficult subjects and exams but not so well with easier ones :-)"

19.4
2
Mohammed Siraj to van Schalkwyk, 2 runs, hoisted off the pads, in the air but not timed, deep square rushes in but it's two more
19.3

Mohammed Siraj to van Schalkwyk, no run, slower bouncer, wide of the batter in his stance, can't connect on a thrashed uppercut
19.2
4
Mohammed Siraj to van Schalkwyk, FOUR, finds the gap at wide long-on! Siraj hits the pitch outside off, inviting a launch to leg and SvS connects sweetly!

Naman Jogani: "Refreshing to see this style of t20 cricket after the IPL where 200 runs were the par score! More bowler friendly pitches might even encourage more youngsters to pick up frontline bowling!"

Mohammed Siraj to van Schalkwyk, no run, pace off again, dies in the pitch on the wide angle across the left-hander, no contact on a flashy cut

Six balls for USA to set something closer to a run a ball. What's feasible as Siraj returns?

Bumrah to Jasdeep Singh, no run, inside-edge, off the pads to backward point. Bumrah goes wicketless but gives nothing away in that final over

0
Bumrah to Jasdeep Singh, no run, slower ball, pace off again, another urgent wipe but that hops low past the off stump
18.4
1
Bumrah to van Schalkwyk, 1 run, right back on the stumps, dragging a flat pull to the leg side as the ball skids low. Backward square gathers

Bumrah to Jasdeep Singh, 1 run, wide on the crease, fires in the blockhole ball, bashed into the covers

  • Shadley van Schalkwyk2 (3b)

Rick Rom: "Arshdeep's average under 20 now - class"

Arshdeep Singh to Jasdeep Singh, no run, back of a length, nearly the five-for! A cramped slap into the covers, but reaches the man on the bounce. The end of a wonderful spell from Arshdeep
17.5
1
Arshdeep Singh to van Schalkwyk, 1 run, full length, attacking the stumps, punched through the line to long-on to bring up the 100. It's something, can they make it something more?

Naveen: "Dilip T to Siraj: You just dropped the fielding medal mate."

17.4
1
Arshdeep Singh to Jasdeep Singh, 1 run, round the wicket, attacking length to the right-hander, cautious block on the front foot

Three balls to make it a five-for... you wouldn't bet against it

17.3
W
Arshdeep Singh to Harmeet Singh, OUT, that's the ticket! Arshdeep persists with his short-ball policy, Harmeet has a swish across the line, gets a thin edge off the shoulder of his bat, Pant times his leap behind the stumps and Arshdeep does have four after all!

Harmeet Singh c †Pant b Arshdeep Singh 10 (16m 10b 0x4 1x6) SR: 100.00

1
Arshdeep Singh to van Schalkwyk, 1 run, cuffed into the off side for the single
17.1
1
Arshdeep Singh to Harmeet Singh, 1 run, hoisted high to deep midwicket but a horror drop from Siraj! An excellent bouncer, following the batter, Siraj has one super catch to his name but he misjudged that badly, throwing himself forward at the last second and letting it through his hands

Arshdeep to bowl out

END OF OVER:

Pandya to van Schalkwyk, no run, another short ball, shaping away outside off, Hardik's work is done, and it's been excellent work. A wicket maiden to finish!
16.5
W
Pandya to Anderson, OUT, hacked high, high, high in the air! Anderson makes room to leg, Hardik followed him with the short ball, the ball soared miles in the air to square leg, and Pant demonstrates once again that he is fully match-fit with a wonderfully judged sprint from behind the stumps, calling early and ushering his outfielder out of the way to take it at full tilt over his shoulder

CJ Anderson c †Pant b Pandya 15 (25m 12b 1x4 1x6) SR: 125.00

Pandya to Harmeet Singh, 1 leg bye, pace off on the short ball, Harmeet shapes for the pull, is completely deceived by the variation and wears it on the shoulder again. The deflection flies square for a bye

Rajan: "137 is the highest score at this ground by Canada, can USA surpass that!"

16.3
0
Pandya to Harmeet Singh, no run, yorker, lovely bowling, and very well dug out too. Jabbing the toe of the bat down into the blockhole

Anand: "USA managed runs off one over off Bumrah what Pakitan needed his entire spell !!!"

16.2

Pandya to Harmeet Singh, no run, another short ball, lobs to Pant behind the stumps... there's a distinct lack of excitement, but Rohit is reviewing. Is there a suspicion of glove before the ball clearly clipped the shoulder. It was mighty close to top-edge as Harmeet swung through his pull, but nothing doing
