That's the end of our coverage for this game. There's England taking on South Africa in the other game. Do check that out. Also do read up on all the analysis and reaction from this game. Until next time, signing off on behalf of my co-commentator and scorer. Be well and take care.
Kapil Baldawa : "Poor approach and how can the team not look at the last game and improve on their error? After Mahroof was out, someone like Riaz or Sohail should have come and taken a hit for couple of overs.. If you are not scoring even after being well set, the fault lies with the set batter too"
Nigar Sultana: I cannot describe this in words. This is out first-ever win in World Cups. History we have made today. We are looking forward to carry this momentum throughout the tournament. I have seen two matches over here, where the spinners dominate here, I thought if she [Salma Khatun] could deliver her best, I could use her very well. We know Pakistan very well, we played each other so many times, in the qualifier also we beat them in the last over. Winning gives us the confidence and this is the momentum we always wanted, we have a good side and already improving, we know that we are a very capable team.
Bismah Maroof: It is very hard to digest, we were in the game, bad shots from the middle order cost us the game. Sidra was playing well, she will be disappointed she could not finish the game. Not really, the way we batted we were in the game, we should have chased it down. Two close games we did not win. We have to take some positives, move forward and try to come back harder in the next game.
Fahima Khatun: First I would like to thank the almighty. I'm always ready to play for my team and I was not nervous. I just bowled in the right areas and the success came. It was a very sporting wicket. I'm really excited and happy that I could perform for my team.
Fahima Khatun is the Player of the Match for her 3 wickets.
Pranay: "This is going to sting Pakistan real bad. Completely thrown away a dominant position."
Shoaib: "From 183/2 chasing 235 ... you have to say it was a choke under RRR pressure."
Jamil: "BD man's team also BEAT Pakistan in their first appearance in WC 1999.... Now BD Woman done it. What a day for Bangla TIGERS ..... "
5.54pm: A first #CWC for Bangladesh and a first win against Pakistan. No wonder they are overjoyed. A few jigs from the girls as well. But Pakistan have thrown this away. From 183/2, with 8 overs left, they inexplicably allowed the pressure to get to them to slip to 188/7 and in the end they lose by 9 runs. One has to feel for Sidra Ameen, she rode her luck to bring up a fine ton but the middle and lower order did not support her. Three first-ballers during that collapse as Fahima Khatun turned the game on its head with her legbreaks. The opening stand was 91 and then again a stand between Sidra and Bismah but during the middle overs there was a lot of dots played which built up the pressure. Bangladesh just kept on bowling to their field and were sharp in the field. Do stay tuned for the presentation...
12 off 2 now. Long-off back now. Square leg in
16 needed off the last over. A really herculean task. Nahida to finish things off
Legspinner, Player of the Match in Bangladesh's win over Pakistan, is hoping her team gets to play the likes of Australia, England and New Zealand more
