6:26pm A decent team innings, given the conditions. NZ, as has become the norm, lost two wickets in the powerplay, with Kerr following suit soon after. Devine, though, stood tall and alongside Halliday, kept things ticking over. That partnership never quite hit over-drive but it lasted more than a hundred runs and that gave NZ a pretty good foundation. Green, Gaze and Tahuhu then popped up with cameos towards the end to ensure NZ made it past 225.
Bangladesh will also feel they did well to restrict New Zealand. Marufa, their star at this World Cup, struggled today and went for plenty. The spinners, though, applied the squeeze, with Rabeya being the pick of the bowlers, bagging three wickets. That said, this will still be Bangladesh's second-highest run-chase ever in this format, and that means they have a lot of work to do. And NZ, with these many on the board, will feel they have enough to get their first win of the tournament. Join us in a bit for the chase!
Brooke Halliday: Not much chat between us. Trying to remind each other to bat 50 overs, and being happy with singles and to take the game as deep as possible. When you come to a place like India, you know spinners and playing spin is going to be important. Had a T20 World Cup in Dubai, and that was a stepping stone to the reverse and the sweep. Have found the middle a couple of times, but have also found the top edge a couple of times. A bit of work (in progress) but we will get there. (On the pitch) The fuller ones, kind of skid on a bit, but the other length, it sort of holds a bit. They made it quite difficult, when they had their fielders straight. Go to the top of the stumps and not try to give them any width, and this (score) will be defendable.
