9:56pm And that will be all from us for today. Australia win by 107 runs but that is telling only a small sliver of the story. They were pushed, they were backed into a corner but like all champion sides do, they found a way. Their next game sees them take on India, who, by the way, are in action tomorrow at Vishakhapatnam against South Africa. Do join us for that game too, and until then, from all of us here at ESPNcricinfo, it is goodbye!
Alyssa Healy, Australia captain: (On how she is feeling and wants to sum it up) Two points. We will move on. I think…that is probably one of the best innings I have seen her (Mooney) play. Hands down one of the best out there. At one point, we would have taken 150-160 (and tried to defend it), that we got more than 200 was a big effort. (On if the conditions surprised Australia) Not really. It changed dramatically from a few days before. It got quite dry. We just did not adapt quick enough and got out in similar fashion. We will learn from that, reflect. Off to a new destination. We play India next, have to switch back on and get into shape for that. It is credit to our depth. We speak a lot about it - how everyone can contribute. We are creating partnerships but probably too late down the order. So many positives we can take out from the two games. Fresh venue, against a really good opposition, so we have to be ready to go. We will get a good look at conditions. They (India) play tomorrow, we will have a look (at India and the conditions). There may have been a few teams watching seeing what is going to unfold here in Colombo (smiles).
Fatima Sana, Pakistan captain: (How close they were) We were on top after 20 overs in the first innings. After that, Beth Mooney played well and our girls' energy came down, and we need to improve (when that energy is down). If you are on top in 20 overs, you need to be on top till the last ball. We need the energy (like the first 20 overs) until the last ball. The way she played, it was awesome to watch. We had decided to bowl because of the pitch. It was slow and turning. We know our spinners have done well. That was the main (idea). We have the best spinners in the Pakistan team. (On what they have to do before playing England) Today is the day where bowlers are on top. We need to discuss with the batters as well. We need more batters to bat long into the innings. We need to touch 190-200 and we will chat together.
Beth Mooney, Player of the Match: (Where this ranks) Pretty high. We were in a bit of a tricky situation. Lot of questions going to the bench, asking what I needed to do. (Credit to) King and Garth, to get some partnerships going. I was dying when I got back to the changing room when I came back. The message was to get a partnership going. If you really committed to a certain style and method, that ended up working. They bowled really well and we had to grind for that one. (On her footwork and how she zeroed in on this method) Little bit from being out in the middle for a while, and also batting in the nets. Speaking to Dan Marsh a lot, speaking about what my method would be against the subcontinental spinners. It was about sitting deep in my crease and hitting as late as possible. A couple turned towards the end, but got lucky with that. (On batting with King) She was incredible. Getting up and down first and foremost, and then (her hitting) towards the end. Lucky enough to play with her at the Scorchers. She is a breath of fresh air. Great teammate - one of the best going around. (On her sister being in the stands) She actually looks a little bit more like Beth Mooney than Beth Mooney does, hopefully she did not have to sign a few autographs there (smiles). (On recovery during the innings break) I dunked my head into ice water. Changed all my clothes, sat in the air-con before it was time to go.
Shubha : "Beth Mooney didn't just plug the huge holes of the Aussie ship but she has also sailed it into safe waters! What a player !"
Raji: "If anyone who didn't follow the match, looks into the score card, they would think that Aussies did it without sweating. " -- Oh, did they not?
9:37pm A very, very comfortable win in the end for the defending champions. But that was definitely not the overriding mood when they had slipped to 76-7. Australia carried that momentum through into their bowling innings, with Garth and Schutt causing irreparable damage in the powerplay. Sutherland chipped in with a couple of wickets too, with the three frontline spinners all bagging a scalp each to ensure Australia cantered past the finish line.
What could have been a memorable evening for Pakistan ended up being a day to forget. Their batters just could not withstand the pressure Australia applied, and once they lost five wickets in the powerplay, it was an incredibly long way back. Amin scored a few, and Shamim and Sandhu hung around towards the end, but against the world champions, that was only clutching at straws.

Thamizhachi : "Champion sides always find ways to counter adverse situations. This Aussie unit is packed with Champions ! "
Sutherland again. Around the wicket
