Shadow-Shell: "We are yet to complete 50 overs without losing all wickets this tournament"

6:15pm Well, that unraveled rather quickly for New Zealand. At one stage, especially when Halliday and Devine were together at the crease, they looked set for 260 and above. But then Halliday fell and the rest of the lower middle order crumbled, with Devine also unable to go past 85. Prior to that, Amelia Kerr and Plimmer got starts, although neither got into any sort of rhythm, and Devine'd dismissal, who was the glue of the innings, ensured SA stormed back and wrapped things up in a jiffy.

Speaking of South Africa, they will be pleased with this effort. Kapp got the ball rolling removing Bates for a golden duck. There was a period where wickets were tougher to come by, but Mlaba stood out during the middle overs, ultimately finishing as SA's best bowler and with four wickets. Khaka and de Klerk were not shabby either, despite bowling in different phases. SA, even though they only managed 69 against England, will feel they can chase this down, although NZ, with 231 on the board, will feel they have enough to play with too. Join us in a bit for the chase!

Brooke Halliday: (On if it was pre-planned to be aggressive) No, not at all. Being a left-hander means they have to adjust their lines and lengths, and I benefited from that. just go out there, watch the ball and see what happens, and today it paid off. She (Devine) is a very relaxed character. There is not much chat. In the middle, what we say is just watch the ball and then go back to our crease. (On the pitch) This is on the slower side. The balls that are on the stumps are not bouncing as much. Quite fortunate that we have been here for a week. Practice wickets have been similar, quite similar to the last game. (Advice to the bowlers) Hit the stumps (smiles). The bounce is variable. If we keep it at the stumps, keep it simple, set our fields straight, and make them play squarer. (On the score) Very good. Back our bowlers to defend it. Wanted to be at the 250-mark but 231 is defendable.

Khaka to Carson, 2 runs, OUT, just over the fielder, but Carson has run herself out! All happening here! Full just outside off. Carson sits deep in her crease and gets under it. Slices it a tad but it has enough legs on it to clear mid off. Long on comes around, cuts it off but that extra effort prompts Carson to chance her luck on the third. Not the wisest decision in the world, though. Bosch picks up long on's parry, throws it to Khaka and she takes off the bails, with Carson sprawling and still being short of her ground!

Mlaba to Tahuhu, OUT, is that a plane? Is that a bird? No, it is Wolvaardt flying through the air! Floated up full outside off. Tahuhu, sitting deep in her crease, throws her hands at it. Laces her stroke and for the longest time, it feels that she will get it past extra cover. Until...Wolvaardt takes matters into her own hands (quite literally). Leaps forward and to her right, flings out her right mitt and makes the ball stick. She reacts as if nothing has happened, and gets mobbed by her teammates soon after. An early contender for being the catch of the tournament, and South Africa are just one wicket away from bowling NZ out now!

Khaka to JM Kerr, OUT, straight down de Klerk's throat, and Khaka is on the board as well! This, to be fair to Kerr, is in the slot just outside off. Her eyes light up and she cannot resist the temptation to have a pop at it. Gets a good chunk of it but not enough elevation to clear the fielder at long on. Simple enough chance in the end for the South African all-rounder, and NZ continue losing their way!
