Bangladesh are here, and here not just to compete but also to win. This is a long tournament, and they will need many more such performances to go deep. That is something which works in Pakistan's favour as well. One win or two, and they'll feel they are back on track. Meanwhile, you can follow Bangladesh's men's team in action right now, as they face Afghanistan in a T20I. Until next time, it's goodnight and goodbye from us!

Nigar Sultana: "It was good toss to lose, I guess, because we also wanted to bat [first]. I told the girls that we needed wickets in the powerplay. Marufa is very young and mature. She knows her role very well, and is very confident. How she delivered was incredible. After the first innings, we talked about playing our natural game. Jhelik batted really well in her debut game. Sometimes you feel pressure when you lose an early wicket... We wanted to start with a win. It gives a momentum we can take into the rest of the tournament."

Fatima Sana: "In the first couple of overs, we lost a couple of wickets. That was match-turning. We'll try to bounce back. We just collapsed early on. We'll try to execute our plans next time. Some players were playing for the first time in the World Cup. So there was pressure. Everyone is a match-winner. We just need to believe. It was a better pitch for the fast bowlers."

Time for the presentations

John Andrew: "Haider unlucky not to get player of the match in my opinion."

Marufa Akter is the Player of the Match: "All are supporting me. Shobana Mostary, especially thank you. She told 'you're a lovely bowler, you can do it'. Our analyst told two months ago that you can do it. I did it. I always tell myself, 'Come on'. I was getting good swing. There was some lovely swing on the first ball, and I maintained the line and length. I couldn't understood where the ball was coming [while going for the catch]!"

8.39pm The first over of the day set the tone. Marufa struck with the new ball as two Pakistan batters walked back without scoring. Bangladesh didn't look back from there, and neither could Pakistan recover. The new ball swung for Marufa, and the older one worked for the spinners, as Bangladesh cause the first upset of this World Cup very early into the tournament. This year is only Bangladesh's second appearance in an ODI World Cup, and they're already showing they are here to win.

Nashra Sandhu to Mostary, FOUR, there it is!! Another boundary for Mostary, as she scores all her 24 runs today through them. Bangladesh win by seven wickets, and nearly 19 overs to spare. It is the second World Cup in a row that they have beaten Pakistan, and for a young side, it will be a big confidence booster. The ball from Sandhu is short and slightly wide of off, and slapped through cover point

Bangladesh just one hit away.
