Amelia Kerr: Disappointing not to bat out the full 50, especially when the platform was set. Shows the importance of batting through. But the wicket is a touch slow and we will take the 228, to try and defend. We know we have got a great bowling attack, hopefully we will get off to a good start, when we are bowling and fielding well we are a dangerous team. The slower balls were working during the innings and hopefully the pitch holds up for the spinners - myself and Mackay will look forward to that. We love being out there as a group, have a lot of fun, good energy and hopefully put up a good display.

Lance: "It's hard to criticise Devine when she made 93, BUT she had to know she had to bat through to the end of the innings. To get out going for a big heave with 10 overs to go is the difference between NZ making a disappointing total and a competitive total. NZ look to be at least 30 runs short. "

Afzal: "South Africa are showing their prowess against pre-tournament favorites. Absolutely loving it. Just imagine how strong this team would've looked if Dane van Niekerk hadn't been injured"

rob: "Not sure who was the prophet in the early comments, but he predicted that the White Ferns would continue their pattern of putting themselves in a reasonable position to launch a late innings blitz, only to crash out with overs to spare. No team will win a world cup when its middle to lower order is so consistently poor."

Ben: "Exactly what I was talking about at the start of the innings. NZ were 198 after 40 overs when Devine got out, then we went 28/5 over the next 8 overs and left 13 balls in the bank to boot. We will not win the tournament if our lower order fall down every time they're called upon."

rob: "198 and still 5 wickets in hand after Devine's dismissal. All out 30 runs later. If the White Ferns can't sort out their middle and lower order nightmare they don't deserve a place in the world cup semis."

5.12pm: Stunning stuff from South Africa to keep New Zealand to 228. The last 6 wickets have fallen for just 30 runs and it has given South Africa the momentum and boost going into the break. They started well and finished well apart from the phase when Devine and Amelia Kerr were allowed to get away after a quiet start. Their problems were compounded when Klaas went off with an injured right shoulder. That meant Luus had to bowl and she got the big wicket of Kerr. Devine looked set for her 2nd ton in this World Cup but Khaka got her with a yorker which turned things around completely. Ismail, Kapp and Khaka finished off the innings after Devine's dismissal. New Zealand who at one stage were looking at 260-270 are short of that score. But the pitch is slow and they have the bowlers to exploit the conditions. Back for the chase in 30 minutes...
