Right, so New Zealand have runs on the board even though it's not as much as they would have hoped for. "The pitch is still a beauty", says Sanjay Manjrekar on a sunny evening. Amelia Kerr says she hopes it slows down and that she can find spin. India can get this but early wickets can dent the chase. Can New Zealand get them, find out as the chase will come in a bit, which will be brought to you by Vishal.
Here are a few comments in the last overs that were action-packed, probably with the bowlers trying to up the over-rate too:
CricFan: "I know this question is not related to this match but , What is the fastest bowl in women's cricket ?" It might be Cathryn Lorraine Fitzpatrick (132 Km/h) but if there is a correction, please send it across
Tautoru: "NZ about 30 runs astray. It went downhill once Satterthwaite went "
Abhijit Bhavsar: "Why don't we see any insights from the Cricinfo team like - whether India's decision to field first was justified or not? - what's the par score?- will the target be easy to chase?Lot of such insights are seen in commentary for men's cricket!" This is a par score and India should get this if they don't lose wickets which has been mentioned. The toss is a reasonable call, at least for now. And you can rest assured that the insights that come out will be generous to the fullest extent. :)
Hugh: "Lot of agricultural batting by Kiwis at the end there. Whatever happened to straight driving." Peak rhetoric!
5:23 pm: An excellent finish by Jhulan and Vastrakar leaves New Zealand with a par score, but 20-30 fewer than what they were pushing. The former is now the joint-highest wicket-taker in World Cups Devine and Kerr started well for New Zealand getting 85 runs between them. Satterthwaite came down and used her bat like a sword, swiping at everything, often surgically finding gaps between cover and long-off in her 75. When India's death bowling was rising to its peak, Katey Martin negotiated some late runs and took the score over 250. The drop catches were extremely poor, which will leave India thoroughly disappointed
