With that Sri Lanka complete a 2-0 series win, in truth they were much the better side over the 2 games and were deserved winners today. It was a great wicket to bat on with 618 runs in the match today, yet the Irish batsmen kept on finding ways to get out. If they were going to get close to the Sri Lanka target the top order had to fire, it didn't happen until McBrine came in and hit an excellent 79 off 64 balls.
Lakmal was the pick of the Sri Lankan bowlers and finished off with 4 wickets. Dasun Shanaka has just been named man of the series even though he didn't do much today.
So Sri Lanka will feel very happy to have won the series so comprehesively and get them in form for the 5 match ODI series against England starting on Tuesday.
For Ireland you will feel that they need to regroup quickly and work out what went wrong before Afghanistan come and visit for a 5 match ODI series starting on the 10th July in Stormont.
So that just leave me to thank you for following my commentary over the two days, hope that you enjoyed it. Until next time this is Justin Smyth saying good night from Malahide. Goodnight.
