That's all we have for you on commentary, thank you for your company, from Al, Matt and Vairavan, its goodbye.
Rohit Sharma: "Before you come and play any game, you have to be confident. In the chase, as it goes on, there are different emotions that come through. But you have to be ready. We have been in that situation before. There's a lot of experience in the dressing room to stay composed. KL and Gill at the end were very composed. One game, very hard to make anything out of the track. Not much grass on it, we knew it would be on the slower side, and that is how it played.
As a team, I thought we adapted to the conditions really well, with the bowling and with the bat as well. Very happy for Shami. Long time waiting. We know what he brings for us. The quality he has. Everytime we throw the ball at him he's got something up his sleeve and we need guys like him to step up in big moments.
Gill, we know the class he has. He's been batting brilliantly of late and today what he showed us, it shouldn't surprise anyone. What was good to see was he was there till the end.
I may take him for a dinner tomorrow [he dropped a catch that would've given Axar a hat-trick]. That was an easy catch, I should have taken that catch, the standards I have set standing in the slips but these things happen. Credit to Hridoy and Jaker to stitch that big partnership.
Not sure about the pitch [for the Pakistan game], but it will be pretty similar to today. I'm not the curator to tell you how it will be. There has been a lot of games that have happened here and we'll come out here on the 23rd and see how it looks." Najmul Hossain Shanto: I think the first powerplay, the way we batted, the game cost us at that point. Very hard for the lower order to recover. The way Hridoy and Jaker batted was brilliant. We made a couple of mistakes on the field, a couple of dropped catches, a run out. If we had taken those chances, the result could have been different. On this kind of wicket, with the spinners bowling, the ball spinning, Hridoy and Jaker batted brilliantly. I don't think we were a spin bowler short. Mahmudullah got injured. We didn't bowl badly, our quicks. If we had taken an early wicket, the result could have been different.
Shubman Gill is the Player of the Match. He says it is one of his most satisfying innings. His first century in ICC events. When he and Rohit went out there, just cutting the ball wasn't easy because the ablls outside off stump weren't coming onto the bat. So he tried using his feet against the fast bowlers and go over the circle. Then when the spinners came on, he and Kohli spoke of how it wasn't easy to hit singles on the front foot. So they concentrated on playing back. At one point there was pressure on us and the message came from the dressing room that one batter had to bat through to the end. The first six gave me a lot of confidence, the second one got me closer to a hundred, so both were satisfying.
India won this game in the first 10 overs of each innings - picking up five wickets, with Axar Patel almost taking a hat-trick in his very first over. Then in a chase of 229, they were able to get ahead of the rate which was vital because the Dubai pitch kept getting slower and slower and hitting the ball off the square was harder and harder.
Mohammed Shami picked up five wickets, looking much more like his old self. The pace was up. The seam position was perfect. For someone who almost had to re-learn how to walk after injury, this is a pretty special night.
And then there's Shubman Gill, the newly crowned No. 1 batter in the ICC ODI rankings. He couldn't have played a smoother innings, even though there would have been times when he might have gotten bored with what he had to do. Always holding back, always having to avoid risk, not even daring to manipulate the ball here and there because closing the face too early could've resulted in his wicket. It's a very mature hundred for him.
Bangladesh, meanwhile, could take heart in Towhid Hridoy's century lifting them from 35 for 5, but very few teams win from 35 for 5
Bj: "Everyone talking about pitch being on a slower side. Remember Shami a fast bowler took 5 wickets haul. Shami is back. "
Rohit : "Bairstow had asked Gill about number of hundreds he has ? I'm just counting them. What a player "
Ajit: "Really does say something about our game when a batter in full control gets a 100 at a SR of 80, while chasing a 220-230 total and all most people including the commentators are talking about is how it's been a "good but slow" knock"
Hari: "I would rate both equally as pitch got tougher, under lights, wickets falling on the other end although not a collapse like in Bangladesh innings and also there is always pressure when you are chasing. "
"The difference between Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill is that Gill will take you right till the end," Sanjay Manjrekar says
Manjrekar feels Kohli is down on confidence, and that has affected his ability to take bowlers on
"They were not too comfortable either" - Bangladesh's century-maker points to India's chase to underscore the sluggish nature of the Dubai pitch
The ICC is believed to have informally told PCB it was an early technical error, the explanation, however, has left PCB dissatisfied
