6.11pm Incredible acceleration at the end their from New Zealand, scoring in excess of 11 an over from the final 10. Credit goes to Young and Latham, 107 and 118* respectively, for doing the donkey work early on to set the platform for that late dash. Pakistan's over rate compounded their own issues - they were only allowed four fielders outside the circle in the last two overs - and now, after an innings lasting more than four hours, they will need to chase 321. A tall task, particularly since Fakhar Zaman won't be able to open, having spent so much time off the field. But both teams expected dew to set in under lights, and that could potentially increase Pakistan's chances here. We'll see very soon, when Karthik returns for the chase.
Will Young: "We found it was really difficult when the bowlers bowled a really good length, just back of the length. Spinners as well, when they slowed it up, it got stuck in the wicket." Lessons for New Zealand's attack to heed...
Hubaib: "So fakhar not coming to open? Might be a blessing in disguise for Pakistan considering he can play and attack the spinners, especially Santner who is otherwise unplayable for Pakistan."
Shakeeb: "Wow! Three spinners went under a run a ball and only one finished full quota. Not impressed by Rizwan's game awareness." -- They would probably have ended up going for a lot if they'd bowled at the death instead of the fast bowlers. It's a tough job being a fast bowler in white-ball cricket and bowling the toughest overs.
