Scorer: Sudeep Poojar | Commentator: Abhimanyu and Ekanth
A comfortable win for GT, they're now #2 now. They're gunning for a top-two spot, as are RCB who play tomorrow. Join us for that. Thanks for tuning in today. I'm Ekanth, signing off on behalf of Abhimanyu Bose and our scorers, Sudeep Poojar and Chandan Duorah.
Prasidh Krishna, POTM and purple-cap holder: Purple cap doesn't feel any different. Winning was key. We've had two long breaks. Getting a win at home was important. My control over length has been good. Lots of support from the team to get where I am now. (Pre-match work and conditions assessment) Prep would start with controlling what I can in the nets. Do what I'd do during the game. On game day, you watch every ball of the first innings if you're bowling second. Take all that you can. Then have chats with the experienced players around, then hit the right areas and take it from there. I have a red ball in my room, playing around with it. Didn't get it to the ground. Looking to take this tournament first and then look at what's coming later.
Shubman Gill, GT captain: (22 dot balls) Didn't plan that, idea was to continue to play like we have. Black soil, we've seen it's not easy to hit sixes. But the way our top order plays, we know how to keep the scoreboard ticking. (On GT's top-loading) We've never had the conversation for one of the top-three to always be there at the end. We're just eager to score runs and do our best. As a side, our fielding had been below average this season but it was great today. Everyone is chipping in - Prasidh, Ishant, even Coetzee - makes it easier defending a score. (On his chat with ump) There are so many emotions, you give 110% on the field, sometimes you're bound to show emotions.
Jos Buttler: Our best performance in the field. We've dropped a few this season, Rashid's catch set the tone. The guys at the top have been in great form. Openers have traditional techniques and can occupy the crease. They took us by surprise actually with how fast they scored with classical shots. Sudharsan has a great head on his shoulders. Blown away by how good he is. He puts in the work, understands his game well. He's shown great consistency and is getting the rewards he deserves. Prasidh does the basics well, bowls a fantastic line. Doesn't give width, watches the batters well, mixes his length nicely. He's disciplined with lengths when not bowling bouncers and yorkers. Fielding has been the big thing. Batting and bowling has been excellent. Going forward, catches are match-changing, if we tidy up there. MI are a form team, always a great game to play at the Wankhede.
Pat Cummins, SRH captain: Our powerplay with the ball wasn't great, I was guilty there. We gave away 20 too many there. Had to hang on to our catches throughout the middle, i was guilty there. Maybe chasing 200 would've been more realistic. They're class batters in GT. They don't do anything outlandish. If you bowl bad balls they put it away and we did dish up many bad balls. But they're quality, know this venue well. We weren't at our best. It was a really good wicket, going for 140 off the last 14 was a good effort from our bowling group. Felt we were in the game with our batters. But in the end it was a bridge too far. Abhishek batted nicely, Nitish did well too. We left a bit too much for the batters. We have to cling onto some hope. Big auction last year. This group will be together for three years, hopefully, so lots to play for. Great venue, very few empty seats, crowd was nice and loud.
11:31pm A perfect game for GT. SRH were never really in, definitely not during the chase. Prasidh came in the powerplay and struck. His middle-overs bowling continued to be on point and he finished with 2 for 19 in a 224-run chase. Head fell for 20. Abhishek's 74 came off 41 balls. He wasn't at his fluent best but gave SRH some hope. Kishan was kept quiet.
Ishant is helped back up. He has to leave the field. Sai Kishore will close out the over
Ishant to close out the game
Did the ball or the keeper's gloves hit the stumps, or both, and which came first? "There was enough doubt," says Aakash Chopra
Mohammed Shami's numbers in IPL 2025 are poor, and he has also not been able to get his lines right consistently, which has traditionally been one of his strengths
There are three Gujarat Titans players in the top four highest run-getters at this stage, with Jos Buttler and Shubman Gill joining Sai Sudharsan
GT had their biggest-ever powerplay of 82 for 0, as the SRH bowlers struggled in Ahmedabad
SRH have only six points from nine games, playing every match as a must-win game
