11.45pm So RCB top the table for now, DC are fourth after MI went up earlier today with the two points against LSG. DC now face KKR and SRH, two teams not doing very well this IPL, and RCB play CSK (home) and LSG (away), and they'll back themselves to get four points from that. That's all from us tonight, then. It's the end of the double-header that saw the Orange and Purple Caps being switched around, and a lot of movement at the top of the table. That's all from me, Vishal Dikshit, and Abhimanyu Bose. And in case you missed this game, here's the report from Karthik Krishnaswamy. Have a good week ahead. Ciao!
Spandana varma: "Both Orange and Purple caps are with RCB now. One of the reason there are at the top of the table."
Kamal: "Come on DC! With all your mentors and coaches and senior players - someone please put your arms around Porel. The young man is distraught!"
Vignesh : "Did Kohli perform Kantara celebration?" Nope, but he did go to KL Rahul after the game and they were having a laugh, like pals.
Krunal Pandya the Player of the Match for his all-round show: It's always good to get the result. Sometimes when you put in the hard work and it shows the result, it feels good. My role was clear that if we lose three wickets, to stich the partnerships because we have hitters down the order - Tim David and Jitesh. When Virat is there at the other end, it's always quite easy, I'll give credit to him. My first 20 balls were quite scratchy but he kept pushing me that 'you'll do it.' I've always been an economical bowler, it's my 10th season. I've worked a lot on my bowling with my variations. I just want to keep my head down and continue this. (On bowling the bouncer) Batsmanship is getting better and players are more fearless in the IPL so you have to be one step ahead. I want to keep the batsmen guessing.
Rajat Patidar: It was a total team performances, the way bowlers executed on this wickets. We're not looking at the venues, just trying to play good cricket. Chasing gives a lot of clarity about the wicket and we plan accordingly. 160 was gettable on this surface, it's not easy to stop them on 160 so credit to all the bowlers. We were pretty much clear about the chase. It feels great when you lead Rcb, there are many great players. It's an opportunity for me to learn from them.
Virat Kohli has the Orange Cap: It was a top win, especially looking at the surface. We saw a few games here and this wicket played out differently compared to those. Whenever there's a chase on, I keep checking with the dugout, whether we're on course, what is my role, what kind of innings I need to play. We were under pressure, 3 for 25-26 and then me and Krunal getting a century partnership. He was outstanding today with the bat, he can make that impact and we were just waiting for him to come into this tournament with the bat as well. And today was his day completely and he was absolutely brilliant. (On how he approaches chases) I look at the total on the board, the conditions, the bowlers who are due to bowl, who are the bowlers who are going to be hard to get away. I try and make sure my singles and doubles don't stop and then you keep getting the odd boundary in between, so the game doesn't get stagnant. That's always been my focus, keep working on rotating the strike. People are forgetting the importance of partnerships or going deep into the innings in T20s and this year your'e seeing that you can't just come out and tee off from ball one. You need to have professionalism to read the situation and try and get into a position where you can start dominating the bowlers. It won't come easy on a slow pitch if you don't know how to rotate the strike. So that's pretty much my method. We've communicated beautifully, Krunal kept telling me to stay while he took his chances. We have the extra power in Tim David, there's Jitesh as well. That firepower at the back end of the innings definitely helps you. And now Romario as well. Hazlewood and Bhuvi are world class bowlers, there's a reason hy Josh as the Purple Cap. Krunal was outstanding the way he varied his pace. Suyash has been the dark horse for us, even if he doesn't have the wickets. Our spinners keep attacking in the middle overs.
11.14pm What a finish from Tim David and what a performance from RCB! Kohli punches the air in the dugout, Jitesh applauds while still padded up and there are smiles all around in that away dugout at the Kotla. RCB top the table for now, and credit all the way to their bowlers before anyone for keeping DC to that below-par total. What an evening for Krunal Pandya
Axar Patel: I feel like we were 10-15 runs short. Our intent was there, but the wicket was hard to bat on it was two paced and became better once the dew came on. We tried to accelerate but kept losing wickets so maybe if one batter batted along it might have been better. I think KL is batting well so batted at No. 4 because he can finish games too.
Free Hit coming up. Kohli punches the air in the dugout
Ddn: "Can mukesh do a hazlewood? "
Still no Starc! Axar gives the ball and some advice to Mukesh. Starc is fielding at the boundary somewhere, watching from far. How many yorkers from Mukesh? Let's see, 17 to win from 12
Rohan: "Poor from axar !! Should have gone with starc and chameera to atleast have a chance"
Time David now, with the most sixes in death overs in this IPL
The Delhi crowd is disappointed but DC crowd is celebrating
V Kohli c Starc b Chameera 51 (87m 47b 4x4 0x6) SR: 108.51
"When you have 18-19 runs to defend in the last two overs, you give the 19th over to your best bowler," Anil Kumble says
"He's got two-three really good variations, and it's very tough to line Bhuvi up [thinking] that he is only going to bowl this delivery," Jaffer says
