If we needed another 240 vs 230 T20, today was it. A total of 32 sixes were hit in Ahmedabad - that's 192 runs already - as the runs tally crossed 470 or thereabouts yet again. But PBKS have started with a win, led by their new captain Iyer, and GT will rue missed chances. Who knows where this could have gone had they taken them? But join us for the action again tomorrow, with every team now having opened their account this year. Until then, goodnight and take care!
Sugun: "That 15th over from Vyshak for 5 runs took the momentum away and GT never caught up there after. Turning point."
Shreyas Iyer is the Player of the Match: "Ecstatic, to be honest. Getting 97* in the first match is always the icing on the cake. No better feeling to be honest. It was important for me to go ahead and adapt. I got four off the first ball, and that gave an immense boost. That flicked six off Rabada - I think the momentum changed... There was some extra bounce as well. I think we adapted quickly. You see the 44 runs Shashank scored off 16 or 17 balls... with the dew coming in, we knew the scenario would be changing. Thankfully, we were able to execute. Vyshak is a funny character; he has got lot of traits in him where he comes in with a great attitude. His approach is stupendous. It was magnificent to watch from the outside. I think Arshdeep played an important role. He said the ball is reversing a bit; the saliva is helping. Before the season started, we left no stone unturned. Everyone chips in with their mindset. There's everyone participating and showing interest."
Time for the presentations
NKR Jr: "Shashank's last over blitz has proven to be the difference in this run fest!"
Arshdeep Singh: "The thought was simple and clear: we'll make them play in the off side. Really happy for Vyshak. He's putting in the hard yards in the practice. The plan was if you're going to miss, miss on the wider side. It does slip a bit with the dew, but the plan was to bowl as wide as possible. Credit goes to all batters who went in and smashed from ball one. There's no par score."
Shubman Gill: "We got our chances when we were bowling and batting. Too many runs we conceded in the back end of the innings... Those three overs in the middle, we scored around 18 runs. That, and our first three overs we didn't score many runs. That cost us the game. Apart from that, many positives for us today. Not easy for someone to come and deliver those yorkers for someone who is on the bench. It's always a good wicket to bat on here."
11.18pm Yet another massive-scoring game among a mountain of those at the IPL. Even totals in and around 240 aren't safe anymore. GT nearly get to their target of 245, falling only 11 short in the chase. Who knows which era of T20 batting we've got into? Nevertheless, today was a rare case of a bowler impacting an IPL game as Impact Sub. Vyshak came in, and simply turned it around within an over. GT were snapped of momentum, and PBKS got to sneak in. GT will feel they could have started more quickly, but that's it now. Iyer's 97* and Shashank's 44* off 16 balls gave PBKS a massive total, and GT were always running behind. Join us for the presentation soon.

GT need 27 in the final over. There should be a comfortable winner from here, you'd think.
